  • This is the version of Space Truckin' taken from the remastered version of the album "Made in Japan" featuring Deep Purple playing live in Japan in August, 1972.
This is easily one of the best albums going, ever! Purple were at their prime during this recording and actually didn't like the idea of recording a live album at the time but thank God that they did!
    Rest in Peace Jon Lord (9th June 1941 -- 16th July 2012)
    ~ Lineup ~
    Ian Gillan - Vocals
    Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar
    Roger Glover - Bass
    Jon Lord - Organ
    Ian Paice - Drums

yes, Zep was great at what they did, but there wasn't many bands ever that was doing what Purple was exactly, and about the closest thing to them then was Yes. it would be nice if more people here got that you can't do what Purple did then, unless you have strong understand of jazz as well as classical--Zep was far more of a blues band. i heard this album myself long before i started listening to jazz regularly, so i actually do thank these guys for leading to advanced ears.

@@kevwoods6827 Honestly, LZ were never as good as a live band. Jimmy Page always played a little bit sloppy live. Eddie Van Halen has said that many times. Also LZ live improvisations with violin bow etc. were imho mostly "weird", but not up to the musical level and technical brilliance of Deep Purple. However LZ were imho better as song writers. There's no "Stairway To Heaven" or "Kashmir" by Deep Purple. In the end they were both incredible bands with weaknesses and strengths of their own.

And the rest of the band.... are simply awesome paice drumming the whole way through.... he and glover where the locomotive pf the band.
At least we have a guitarswinging and violintone controll from blackmore.
Crowd who saw the whole show where witness of the best live show.
16 August 1972 early morning is a Milestone... its nearly musicial and technical impossible for a todays generation to play like this....
