Rare Live in Warsaw 1991 No Need to further describe anymore about Grappelli simply good tune & well played. Always reminds me what a musician should play and could play on stage
I saw Stephane live, once, in San Francisco. I set out to be critical, to be jaded --- but he melted my heart. Then I was allowed to slip backstage to meet him, and he was so gracious and approachable. I can't see how anyone could not like this (even if the particular style of music isn't one's favorite)!
HE WAS MAGICIAN PRETENDING TO BE A JAZZ FIDDLER. IN FACT HE WAS BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. LEFT U EXTREMELY SHAKEN UP. AFTER U LEFT WHEN HE WAS FINISHED ALL THE STREET LIGHTS SUDDENLY APPEARED IT IS CALLED HYPNOTIZATION.

He truly was the master. I have loved his playing since I was a small boy. Over 50 years later, his music is just as fresh and invigorating. We are lucky to have his recordings.
Stephane Gapelli said he learned his violin style from listening to Django play! One of the great/amazing things about Stephane is that he played with as much ease and consistency on the really hard parts as he did on the easy parts!
I am so fortunate that some 60 + years ago my father introduced me to this music by the Hot Club of France ( Grapelli and Django Rheinhard). Django influenced every good guitar player from Les Paul and Chet Atkins ... and that influence goes on today. Merci to the French particularly and Europe for keeping this music alive while North America wallows in (c) RAP and Hip Hop. Bravo!
Genius a million times over...I saw him in Houston in 1979, playing at Rockefeller Club...nostalgia of the best kind. God bless America, the birthplace of jazz music!
And which took years, finally taking notice of how great the jazz musicians we had by seeing what they did in Europe, how they were adored, rigtheously so.
Such expression is required beyond all others, of most grace where mother America first truely found her place amongst her people. We need no gods, just a shared love for life that is only expressed best by music that is light, deep and sweet; with a sprinkle of salt in there like a fat bag of freshly popped kettle corn. So wonderful as he weaves his magic spell of music that lifts you to higher realm than you knew existed. Words were not enough so God created music and only he and a few others really play it. My soul is content.
i heared a piece of music on a radio..,that was a long time ago, never knew the name of the musician, now I know .that violin was singing and talking as well just like this one. true a hapiest violinist.
I saw him a couple of years later at Massey Hall in Toronto with Bucky Pizzarelli playing guitar. They practically had to carry him on the stage, he was so weak, but, when he started playing, it was Paris in 1932 all over again.
that was mind blowing!!! just so freakin' amazing. My favourite version of this piece was the one played by joe pass but this is as good as joe pass version.
Absolutely Sublime! I had never heard of Grappelli until i saw this last night. It overwhelms the senses. The sound.Sickening, impossible to understand how sickening it is. I can't even understand it. You just feel dizzy and overwhelmed experiencing it. Absolutely Sublime. The only word for it.
I'd say Grappelli had to be one truly 'happy' man. He lived 89 creative years and spread joy to untold number of music lovers all over the world.
That’s the goal ❤
His sound of his violin ... indescribable. It feels like revisiting your childhood home when you're an adult... just warm memories.
Grappelli was the undisputed master. It's never too late to discover him.

He makes the violin speak so beautifully. I’ve loved his music for years because you can feel it.
Saw him at Lancaster university many years ago - diz dizley on guitar -great evening
HE WAS MAGICIAN PRETENDING TO BE A JAZZ FIDDLER.

Which venue?
I was in San Francisco at that concert too in the 70’s…marvellous memory!
If you love jazz, you'll never grow old!
because u allready did before u started?
YES, I THINK SO. HAVE A GOOD LIFE, I WISH YOU.
Thank you, young lady!

Also true of heroin, but for different reasons.
Stephane had it all, wonderful intonation, technique and real musical respect for everything he played.
He was rightly viewed as the Worlds best .
Stephan brought this tour to Australia and I was lucky enough to see it. Still the best concert I've ever seen. A pure unadulterated privilege.
As a child, and via the radio, How High The Moon was my first encounter with the great Stephane Grappelli....l never really got over it.
He didn't even have to look at the violin, he just FELT it! I guess that comes with over 60 years of experience playing violin.
Awe! That twinkle in his eye! The look he gives the audience before the jazz starts is priceless
OMG, he brought the house DOWN! Bravo! 👍👍👍
Tellement beau❤❤❤❤❤❤

Stéphane Grappelli was an amazing jazz violinist, he will be remembered for his seemingly impeccable performances and incredible style.
Two words "pure genius"
Quel jeunesse !!! C'est bien plus que de la musique, c'est l'essence même de la vie.
I love the way he smiles all the. time and appears to enjoy every single second of his performances.
Magic Stéphane. Quelle classe. Merci Monsieur Grappelli pour tous ces moments de grâce. Admiration définitive.
I seen Stephen only ounce when he came to Belfast. The one element that makes him so special, is that he plays with real passion.

What a way to start the day! The last rift was sublime. Thank you Stephane, for sharing your gift with the world.

I don't think you know how much of a fantastic violinist this guy is...
Stephane Grappelli had something that very few musicians have - he got better as he got older.
Hans Eekhoff yes...its amazing
Hans Eekhoff oh really I thought he’d get worse thought more experience he got playing the violin
@Carlos Sanchez lmaoooo but true some people start to fall off if they start to go senile
@@GameLang like Heifetz for example!!!
That cheeky expression just before he picks the pace up really brightened my morning up.
What a master.
Stephane is a man full of love and decency - and this is what imbues the audiience.
If the world could know what we know about Stefan and his music there would be no need for war.His violin brings peace.
he looks old but his playing sounds like he's in his 20's. What a master.

I only seen Stephen only ounce, when he appeared in Belfast. A true master of his instrument. It was a wonderful experience.
What a great artist and great sound he makes the instruement sing
Nobody could touch Stephane. Sensational.
Was very fortunate enough to see Stephane and hear his unbelievably gorgeous sound.up close and live

Tyner hit those chords so well How High is a hell of a mood tune for playing those chords - harmony and dissonance all in one.
Real art never dies. In fact, it is the only thing that might survive.
Wonderful. Thanks for posting.
Sublime Violino...Inigualavel.

Mi padre lo amaba, tanto como a esta canción... Me emociona, lo extraño. Thanks for sharing this.
The most inspirational violinist for me I obtain all of his motifs in my plane it gets me far thank God for bringing us defin Grappelli
My God... Brilliant. Loved him from his LPs but never saw him live. Thank you for this performance!
A legend of violin and jazz.
Forever!
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 76yo Aussie fan.
Simply fantastic. Superb improvisation.
I'll remember this man's music for the rest of my life, and i'm not even out of high school.

he died on 1 dec 1997 ... i was born that day ...
Saw him twice in Buffalo. Still remember it well.
EXTRAORDINARIO EL MAESTRO DE MAESTRO STEPHANE GRAPELLI.
Forever young!
This does not sound like a ninety year old violinist.
Breathtaking. I was lucky to see him live in his youth (1979) hee hee ! Genius !
I first learned of him when i saw the movie 'King of the gypsies" in 1979. Fell in love.
I saw him a couple of years later at Massey Hall in Toronto with Bucky Pizzarelli playing guitar. They practically had to carry him on the stage, he was so weak, but, when he started playing, it was Paris in 1932 all over again.
Thanks for posting this lovely clip....how good is that piano player !!!!!
Just a handful of grapelli's notes evoke a lost time and place. So amazing.
How much i love this man!! trully!! adorable!! thankyou!!
Great thank you for this special and masterly music! Maya
His violin talks
Wow! Love his interpretation of this song.
He is like wine, the older the better.......GRANDE MAESTRO.....
One of a kind!! I had the pleasure of meeting the Maestro when he appeared on a TV show I worked on in the 1970's..
He is magical and can speak through music
Man ! Oh man ! That could swing !
Yes. You must mention that the great McCoy Tyner is moving this arrangement.
Lots of Oscar Peterson in his playing here.
@@farshimelt anyone who came along in that era who wasn't influenced by Oscar Peterson was deaf. :)
An authentic genius. At least we had him around for a couple of decades after Django's demise.
Just exquisite on every level
what a pleasure and honour it must have been to play with such a legend...
Every time I start to think I can play this song on my trumpet, I listen to Grappelli and start practicing again.
that was mind blowing!!! just so freakin' amazing. My favourite version of this piece was the one played by joe pass but this is as good as joe pass version.
Absolutely Sublime!

The guitarist is Marc Fossett. Grappelli loved him and Fossett was a member of Grappelli's Pariian Trio for a lot of years.
Absolutely incredible 👏 🖤🎼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏
Seeing him live in Perth Australia was a highlight in my life. I am near meeting him again. At least I think so??? I hope. LOL.
