Interesting. My first ever job was in Hammersmith back in 1986. In fact, you walked right past the building I worked in, the tall one on the corner of Lyric Square. Back then the building was called St. Martin's House, not sure what it's called now. It was funny seeing the door that I nervously walked through on my first ever day in the big, bad world of work! It seems like a lot of the Hammersmith I knew back then is still there, I spotted many of the pubs I used to drink in with my colleagues, and the Kings Mall that I often wandered around during my lunch breaks. But there seems to be a lot of new development there too. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane! 😊

I enjoyed your walk. Great to see how Hammersmith area has changed from the 1970's when I lived here for a short period in Queen Caroline Street behind what is now the Apollo and was then the Hammersmith Odeon Cinema. Also nearer the River Thames. My mother would have loved all the new shopping Malls and Market. In our days there she had to get her shopping in King Street, not easy going underground or across all the busy traffic. Thank you for posting I can sit in the comfort of my home here in Kent and enjoy London again ... :-D

I remember going to what was then called The Hammersmith Odeon to see Isao Tomita in 1976 I think it was. I had wanted to go to The Queen concert a year before but couldn't get tickets. I used to walk around Hammersmith were one of my best friends lived in Hammersmith Grove. He showed me the location of an extremely good timber merchant called Moss & Co which was located down a small side street off King Street.
Interesting walk. Shopping centers are much the same wherever you are in the UK, but once you got out of them I found the video much more enjoyable. Some very old buildings shown and appreciated. The Salutation Inn was beautiful.

Did you carry on walking towards Chiswick High Road? I think that should be one of the next areas you feature as it's a lovely area with many quirky side streets and lovely parks and greens including Turnham Green and Devonshire Road shops and a Michelin star restaurant.

I love Hammersmith. I lived in Putney in 2013 and used to catch the bus from upper richmond road into Putney then onto Hammersmith Braodway from barnes on my way into central London. Very very busy during peak hour but the moring rush was the best coz i often stop in Hammersmith for a coffee and a soft pretzel before pushing on. London is a special place and i miss it alot. I loved the rainy weather, overcast days and cold winters its really amazing.
