মুদ্রানীতির প্রতিশ্রুতি না রাখায় অর্থনীতিতে বিভিন্ন সংকট চলছে বলে মনে করেন, বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংকের সাবেক প্রধান অর্থনীতিবিদ ড. বিরূপাক্ষ পাল। তার মতে, সুদ ও বিনিময় হার নিয়ে সব সময় সতর্ক থাকতে হবে। তবে বাজারভিত্তিক বিনিময় হার নিয়ে কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংক লুকোচুরি খেলছে। আর কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংকে স্বচ্ছতা আনতে বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংকের বোর্ডে পরিবর্তন আনার তাগিদ দেন তিনি। সম্প্রতি TBS FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSION এ এসব বিষয় তুলে ধরেন ড. পাল। যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের স্টেট ইউনিভার্সিটি অব নিউইয়র্ক অ্যাট কোর্টল্যান্ড-এর অর্থনীতির অধ্যাপক ড. বিরূপাক্ষ পালের আশঙ্কা, নির্বাচনের পর ঋণ খেলাপিরা আরও সুবিধা নেয়ার চেষ্টা করবে।
