Most underrated contemporary photographer!!
...you are too kind - many thanks! :)
Thank you for sharing such beautiful images.
Yes, please talk about how you process your digital images in your next video.
Super happy to see you back , amazing , super sensitive photographer 🙌
Thank you so much 😀
I'm really enjoying your videos. I'm especially enjoying watching your process - it very purposeful and deliberate.
Beautiful work as always!
Great to see you back making videos. I've been a faithfull fan since a long time. Love your work. Please never stop!!!
Thanks - more to come soon :)
So nice to see your videos again, Jan.
wow I follow you on Instagram and didn't know about the channel. nice!
I've followed your work for years, after ditching all my Canon DSLR gear and lighting equipment and just doing film for a few years. You are, and were, a major inspiration, and although I'm not sure you'll read this, everything you said resonates with me and you are an incredible artist. I'm back to digital too, for the same reasons you mentioned, but now I carry a camera and a couple of lenses, and I try my best to see the light the way the camera sees it, to reveal its beauty and make it work on behalf of the photograph and the subject. Thank you so much.
Thank you! :) I fully agree, most important is beautiful/interesting light, digital or film is a secondary aspect…
Hey there!
Just had a chance to check out your latest video - it's absolutely beautiful, really!
You know, I've been hooked on your work ever since I came across it just before the Frame Show was launched.
I must say, the quality and professionalism in what you do is nothing short of amazing.
Keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you! :)
great video. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Would be interested to hear about your struggle with digital :)
The struggle continues :-) ...but its getting better, will surely talk about it in another video!
It's always an absolute pleasure to watch you work Jan. You've been an inspiration to me for over a decade now and I'm so grateful for you, your art and the way you communicate. I can't wait to watch your next production.
Thank you! :)
What a beautiful video! I have known your pictures for a long time, and I really love them, but I was impressed by how beautiful the video was produced by Stephanie. Huge compliments to you both and the model. We should see more of this on this channel, and I hope that Film and Friends is also still alive! I see that many film shooters make a little transition towards digital, and with the current film prices, I can totally understand that.
Danke Dir! :-) Film and Friends is still alive and we hope to again do more with it.
Please more video! I love your photography so much!
Will do - thanks!
Fantastic model, fantastic location, fantastic light, fantastic photographer = epic result. Favorite shot: 4:47
good choice, always great to hear what others think!
beautiful! thank you!
Thanks!
Thanks for this video, well produced. Beautiful model and the video shows the intimate atmosphere during the shoot. Very nice compositions and colours. Your way of working well mirrors mine, simplicity in technique, no additional light, creativity of the moment, working with curtains and doors to model the light, often shoot with very little light and be able to quickly change model positions and shooting angles. Never having any cables or softboxes in the way gives so much freedom 🙂
Thanks Ludwig!
incidentally I got the 1D II in October and use it with an v mount adapter with the kit lens for the 501. Very happy with this hybrid.
Was waiting to get a used 65mm or 80mm, because I didn't think much of the 45mm. Now I probably start with that one because of your shoot 😀
I would love to try the 65, should be my favorite field of view, but the 45 was just more affordable…I also use the “old” 80mm from the 501cm via an adapter, but I find the limitations of the electronic shutter a bit annoying, but a great lens of course…
When micmojo starts switching to digital photography, you know the film industry has exaggerated the pricing policy.
They sure did! :P
Jan, can you shed some light how you find these beautiful locations? Many thanks, long time fan.
There is no easy answer, its searching the internet, asking people, knowing someone that knows someone. My wife is very good at it, and she managed to organize this one,
Thank you for these great videos and photography insights! Film quality is great but unfortunately not sustainable because of the increasing cost. Have you tried Hasselblad X2D or Leica SL3? Would be great if you could make a video on your digital search journey..
Jan, I am a big fan of your style. I have watched all your videos many times couple years ago. Now you have more interesting videos . Thank you so much. It is very inspiring ❤. May I ask what lens you use? I need a lens that can shoot portrait and full body, what is your recommend? Thanks
Tolles Video und wieder eine grandiose Location. Wie kommst du immer an diese Locations ^^
Danke! :) In diesem Fall kannte meine Frau die richtigen Leute…
@@micmojo deine Frau scheint ein Universaltalent zu sein.
as always a super interesting and well produced view bts! thanks for talking so openly about film vs. digital. do you ever tend to use the internal crop of the digital hasselblad to achieve the square format as well?
Thanks - no I have not tried it, but maybe I should...
How do you develop the RAW files of the Hasselblad X1D? Do you use Lightroom/Photoshop or the Hasselblad Phocus software?
I tried both. I stayed with Lightroom as the difference was very minute to my eyes.
