Zeku is such a good character. There are a lot of characters in SFV that feel like Capcom tried making something new out of something old. Zeku is like a mix of Guy, Strider, and Gen while having a unique identity and feel. Would love to see him return.

@@shadysheister idk if G counted as new or return as G technically is Q as they're both have some same attack animation but there's still no prove about that outside theories. He's a intersting guy for me at least
Zeku being a stance character has so much tech to discover, and Capcom added some new bags of tricks to his kit, definitely one of the most slept characters in the roster right now.
Hello Bafael, you did not mention the new crazy block string that brings about around 200 damage. That has some real practical applications, and can actually punish the opponent for blocking!
@@ompspartan9734 this is partially correct. If you start the sequence when they have no v-gauge, such as the start of a round of after they used their VT, the block string does not generate enough v-gauge to enable a v-reversal
Hey Baf, I think the form cancels is also an indirect buff to VS2 as you can release the animals quicker after certain transforms now without necessarily sacrificing damage for the set up. Also, I think a key thing with the Bushin chain into activation buff is that, coupled with VS2 in the corner, Zeku can get a mad chip sequence from VS2 bomb > Light Hozanto> Bomb explosion> Bushin Chain>VT1 activation >Bushin Chain> VT1 Chain >CA. Does one of the highest chips in the game.
I kinda hope we get a game where him, Guy, and Maki are all playable. It would be interesting to compare the 3 Bushin characters to each other, and I agree that Guy should get some of these changes.
Unless I missed something about the last patch you mentioned I feel like I've been doing that the whole time with zeku he's my main and I have tons of set ups with switching mid special move.
You could always do things like medium shoulder to stance switch uppercut, but with the new cancels he can do things like light shoulder to stance switch uppercut. It's faster which allows new combos, including all the ones I showed. The most useful is probably gram teki into stance swap into run overhead.
Don't think the gram loops are ever going to be optimal and practical simultaneously. From the little I labbed before I went on holiday it seems to give him a new max damage corner combo vs standing opponents after counter hit and normal hit St.LP with 3 bars. Strangely it seems you get 4 loops if your starter was a counter hit and only 2 if it was a normal hit and I really don't know why.
I never cared for Guy as a character, or his playstyle. Not only Zeku made me appreciate Bushin style gameplay, it retroactively made me dislike Guy. Imagine being such an edgy jabroni that after your Master gives you the title of Master, he says "ah whatever, that Bushin Ryu is lame anyway" goes on a journey of self discovery, developes new fighting style, that leads to the foundation of Strider clan, it survives a couple hundred years into a future and becomes integral to saving the humanity after the technological apocalypse.
Zeku was also kidnapped in final fight 2. The entire plot was Guy’s girlfriend and master were kidnapped and Guy said fuck em and made Haggar and Maki handle it while he did literally nothing. One that’s some hardcore salvaging for Zeku. Two it really shows that guy is secretly kind of a dick considering he did appear in ff2 he just chose not to try and save his loved ones.
@@Neogears1312 Actually, in addition to Guy's fiancée, the old man kidnapped in Final Fight 2 was ZEKU's master, Genryusai. Street Fighter Alpha 1-2 happened at roughly the same timeframe, which is why Guy wasn't present.
The whole thing with Zeku's character in _SFV_ is a massive retcon, to the point that he's arguably a brand new character beyond being still connected to Guy. I'm not complaining, but I think it's a bit unfair to call Guy out on things that either are no longer valid or weren't valid in the original instance even if I can understand not liking Guy('s stoicism).

And around that time Guy was training with Zeku in order to become the 39th Bushinryu Grandmaster according to his ending in Street Fighter Zero 2, there's no way he could've known what was happening in Metro City during that timeframe.

Zeku's definitely one of the most promising characters I'm looking to try this final season. Very happy with these final changes.

Loops aren't that bad damage wise, single digit differences in most cases
I'm not sure I care for the old/young mechanic. Would've been cooler imo if he just stayed old, as weird as that sounds.
I think with the right VT/VS combination you can just play old Zeku but I could be mistaken? Though I don't know why you'd do that
