    No, He wasn't a Saint, far from it. He certainly was not a hypocrite either and managed so very well to relate to the common folk and express the feelings and sentiments of the working class. Good post ,Thank you.

      He was common folk. He grew up in abject poverty and was not formally educated.

      As a Scot in exile I still cringe at "New Year's". Of course it stems from New Year's Eve. It, however, alters the true meaming of the original term which implies the ENTIRE year, not just the evening. Cheers my friend!
