I’m a Captain and my name is Ian. My son and I are both fans of the channel. We are both avid saltwater fishermen. I push jet fuel barges between Louisiana and the Florida panhandle. If I don’t make it through this whole video you’ll understand because it’s like being more at work while I’m at work watching. Love the content brother.
Tug. Glad to see you on your own channel. I remember seeing you while fishing other people out of Jupiter. Now that I found your video's I plan on watching more of your video's. The first time the wife ad I had our Mahi was blackened and in Taco's. The wife was never a big Taco person to begin with. She could never understand fish with cheese. But once I made the Taco's, she loved not only the Mahi but the Taco's. The only reason some folks use flour before the breading is to dry the fish and make the egg wash hold better to the fish. But I'm with you, it changes the taste of the fish. I also use Ghee insrtead of any other kind of oil. Not only for the health reasons, but the taste. Ghee is sometimes called clarified butter(bit not the same) The Ghee has a higher smoke point, about 480 degrees. Got to love Florida! The wife and I live on the west side just off of Indian Rocks Beach. We just got through Helene and Milton. We are good, no damage. We were able to help those in need and the beach is still being cleaned up. Take care and stay well!
I just started watching your videos. Actually this is the second one I've seen. Entertaining the people isn't always easy. You and your wife are doing a great job. Hope you enjoy your time in my home state of Michigan.
You and your Wife really are a 'HOOT'... - Driving the 'boat is a no brainer for YOU!!! Hello, especially with your experience...Thanks so very much for sharing the REAL stuff with your followers - 'Down-Home' is always going to pull us IN and show us what so many of us have done for 'decades'...HUGS and TYVM for sharing...
Hi, back when I was working on tugs, we made a triple barge tow to Gitmo with everything that was needed for that McDonald’s. Glad it’s still there. The Tug Bayou Bull, Misener Marine Consruction.
OMG! I have visited many of those locations on Gitmo, dove off of those rocks, got drunk and tried to sleep on the beach, shore patrol took us back to the ship. Brought back so many memories! This was all back in the 70's. The night time storm scene was just awesome. I would fish the Indian River on my bike and crashed one night when my stringer of whiting and trout got tangled in my front wheel and forks... Loved, loved, loved this video! Enjoying being retired but miss the good old days!
i worked for 34 years with Tidewater Barge Lines which runs tugs on the Columbia and Snake rivers. Pusher tugs hauling fuel, grain and other commodities. Rode the tugs a few times but my main job was as a tankerman pumping fuels off the barges, Brought back a lot of memories. I love Florida and would have enjoyed working on your tug. Keep the videos coming!
Love your show, especially when you are on the Tug, I spent over 16 years in the Army and love to see your fishing and hunting and Tug, especially with your family, btw originally from Michigan, keep it real!!
Love y'alls videos so much. I would love it if Tara could show some of her recipes while she's cooking like y'all did in this video. I'm disabled but love to cook and love learning new recipes. My wife works really hard and I try my best to have something good for her to eat when she gets home. Thanks so much and congratulations on your new mile stone.❤
I always use a little corn starch before the egg wash it seems to make them a little crispier in the end. I absolutely loved this video seeing the life on the Tugboat.
Hey Tug we grew up in my family just using corn meal we actually ran out one day but we ground feed for our cows and chickens so my dad went to the barn and just turned our grinder way down and threw a sack of whole corn in it and made 50lbs of corn meal. After that we pretty much quit buying it.
Glad I was able to contribute some knowledge to your first time explaining the process to sail aboard an Oceangoing tug and documenting your sea time for upgrading your certificates. Nice job this time around. Aloha.
Love the Tug videos, this one, all together was fun to watch. I think all the people involved are amazing, not an easy job whether on the tug or the one holding down the home front. Have a wonderful week out there, wherever your travels take you!
The life of being under way. Best part of it is the scenery. I loved it. When I was in the navy I would get a cup of coffee and go sit on the bow and just enjoy the view! Love these videos. Love the fact you have your daughter and her friends in your fishing and crabbing videos! Keep up the amazing work sir
I really enjoyed everything about this video. Thank you for giving us a peek into your business. The view from your "office" is spectacular. Stay blessed.
Loved every minute of this video, thank you very much for your time. I can only imagine how much time it took to record and edit all of this. Much appreciated
I love your show! When I was a kid my grampa would pinch our toes awake before the sun came up and we’d pile into the pickup to go fishing all the near by creeks and ponds. We learned early how to clean whatever we caught . Breading of flour , salt and pepper. To this day I love fish. The only thing I do a bit different for the grandkids is to soak the fish in milk to take away the fish taste.
Yo Tug, that was my first video .... I have been curious about tugboats since I was a little boy. This video was such an eye-opener! Thank you for sharing. Can't wait to start binge-watching all of these! You and the Crystal are so excellent.
My favorite breading is Kellogg's Corn Crumbs especially for snook. In a pinch when we had nothing for breading, we used potato chips all smashed up... It was delish! Love me some blackened Mahi!
I spent time back in the 60’s on the Forrestal was in GITMO IN 65 you brought back memories. Never been on a Tug so I really enjoyed your tour Cap and your channel.
When u showed the tarpon in Gitmo-I had a rush of memories from the late sixties as a 17 year old seaman fighting those monsters off the stern of our destroyer. We were down there for shakedown and sea trials after FRAM2 conversion....some of the most enjoyable times of my existence on this old rock....
My brother and I are both towboaters just like you, I actually worked on the sister boat to yours just a couple years back (we’re both on ATB’s now lol) and love the outdoors and all the content you put out. We live life just like you and enjoy every video we see from ya. Smooth sailing and tight lines brother!
The grumpy old fart will turn out to be your best friend been working on the inside and blue water from the age of 16 I'm 54 now God bless stay safe ❤❤❤❤
Hey Thanks I really enjoyed your video. My Dad was in the Navy in WWII, after the war he worked on a tug for years. He had some great stories. I never got the chance to follow him and work on a boat but I always wondered what it would be like.
I would love to see even more cooking videos on the Tug! Compilation videos of meals would be great too. “EVERYTHING I ATE ON THE TUG BOAT” would get a bunch of views I would almost guarantee!!!
As I’m watching this tonight. Looks like Hurricane Helene is coming PRAYERS FOR ALL IN HELENES PATH.. This is so interesting to me. You are showing us how to clean & cook seafood . Oh how beautiful the fish are LOOK AT THOSE ORCAS!!!How pretty the places you travel to. Thank You for sharing your incredible job. GOD BLESS from West Central Indiana Farmland
I do chicken chops and fish all with my own mixture. As crazy as it sounds its what ive found my family likes. One sleeve of saltines and one sleeve of Ritz crushed, 2 cups of bread crumbs, 1 cup of corn bread mix, 1 cup of flour, 3 tbsp. of Italian seasoning, 3 tbsp. of SPG, 1 tbsp. of onion powder, 2 tbsps of smoked paprika, 5 tbsps of ranch dip mix. Then sometimes ill add different seasoning bkends depending on what im making. Sometimes with shrimp or chicken ill take the Italian and ranch out and do Cajun and dried parmesan in it. The reason the amounts are so big is because i make a big batch because we use it so much.
I love the advice at that tug boat job. Not so much the requirements but the way said to act is how most jobs are like that. Great fatherly advice. 1:25:49
Grew up in jackson michigan eating fried fish! Bluegill,.crappie, perch, walleye, rockbass and pike all dredge in breadcrumbs or corn meal. And of course grilled falltime salmon! Love your vids!

Always looking forward to your videos. You need some "aji cachucha" peppers for your beans. Next time you're in S. Fla let me know and I'll get you a plant. Not spicy but very flavorful. As a matter of fact, you can probably get the real Cuban ones in Guantanamo. Be mindful to get the ones with the strong smell, almost spicy Aji Cachucha
Yes sir I live in Winter Haven FL and we used to go fishing on the weekend we would come home and fry some soft shell turtle and blue gills, catfish pretty much what we caught them were the best days just wanted to say hey man and keep doing your thing brother love the video's be safe out there buddy
