    Incredible how much The Great One's 10th year cards go for. Wow, the 1980 Topps PSA 10 only has a pop of 1! I agree with you on the price of this card. The owner can pretty much name his price! Enjoyed this Gretzky episode! Thanks for sharing. Take care and be safe!

    Nice video. Gretzky was my dad's favourite player. He is only missing 2 of the cards you showed but he doesn't have any PSA 10 cards. Thanks for sharing. That was a GREAT video of the GREAT ONE.

      Thanks Johnny! Glad you enjoyed it. It was fun looking through each year of the 1980s to make that video. I grew up in San Diego and Gretzky coming to the Kings was one of the main reasons I got into hockey as a kid, as San Diego isn't much of a hockey town. Sounds like your dad has quite the Gretzky collection. Thanks for watching!

    Great presentation. Obviously a great collection of cards here. I’ve never really been a fan of the ‘87 design but, I always liked the shot of Gretzky that year. It doesn’t surprise me the pop count being low for the ‘82. I’ve opened enough of these to realize that centering is extremely difficult in this set. It also doesn’t surprise me that the pop on the 1980 is low due to the fact that the scratch off area is usually marked but, I am shocked that there is only one PSA 10. That’s incredible!!! Again I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing

      Thanks David. Love hearing your feedback on some of these older sets! I've ripped some baseball and football from the 80s and have an idea of the quality control for certain sets but it's fascinating hearing feedback from someone that has ripped these 80s hockey sets! Thanks for watching!

      @tenclubcards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate all the positive feedback, David! I get them directly from PSAcard.com This is an older video, as I was just learning to edit videos as I went. I have a newer Wayne Gretzky series on my channel page in which I started putting in screenshot graphics showing the exact population report as of the date of research. I've started putting a "pop report & sales data as of...." graphic in my newer videos as well, so there's no confusion as the videos get older from the publish date. Hope this helps out and feel free to comment anytime, anymore questions you have. First time seeing you in the comments I believe, so welcome to the channel and thanks for watching! 👊

    • @tenclubcards

      For this list they were all PSA10. On my Michael Jordan series, there's some rare cards that have only been graded a few times by PSA with a pop of zero in a 10. I try my to always specify if the highest recorded sale isn't in a 10 but for this list they were all psa10s. And just to point out something that maybe some viewers may not know; the 1980 topps Wayne Gretzky featured a special "black puck" scratch off area where alot of us buyers of packs in the day would take a coin and scratch it of to show the players name...so to find those cards in unscratched condition are even more rare than usual. This would have to explain the "Pop 1" on this super valuable card!

    how do i securely send cards for grading from Canada?

    • @tenclubcards
      @tenclubcards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recommend contacting the grading companies first but I would assume it wouldn't be any different then shipping them from the states. You want to put each card in a soft sleeve, inside of a semi-rigid holder like a card saver one. Then secure the cards in between two sturdy pieces of cardboard. I would insure the package and I'm sure the only difference coming from Canada would be having to through customs. Hope this helps and feel free to comment back if you need anymore help 👍

      @@tenclubcards i guess what I'm really asking is, is there some kind of an insurance of a card or cards that could potentially be worth 10's of thousands or more? Since it wouldn't be graded at the time of mailing or acquiring insurance,how does one estimate it's worth in Canada?

    • @tenclubcards
      @tenclubcards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a tough one. That has always been a gray area to me. When you buy insurance for a package, you're buying it for the declared value of what's in it (The raw card value) I really don't know how you can go about it buying insurance for the potential value of what they will be worth once graded. I wish I could help out more with this. I would recommend talking to your local post office in Canada

    The card boom, in my opinion, started it with the Derek Jeter Espiritu selling for $100,000... That's what reminded everyone about cards, but I'm glad you're not one of these people that talks about it like 2020 changed everything in cards were dirt-cheap before that

    • @tenclubcards
      @tenclubcards  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely agree. I started seeing an up tick in the sales in 2018, but especially graded cards in 2019. I will admit the pandemic did help the 2020 market boom but all the signs from the market were showing it was coming either way. Thanks for watching!

      @@tenclubcards yeah, I have always been a collector of all sorts of things that I thought might be valuable and I managed to snag some decent cards throughout the years but I wasn't a Card Collector until around 2015 or so, I got hurt from work and right around then Facebook Marketplace came into being and I took full advantage, people, mothers, stupid people didn't know what they had, whatever I could find where somebody was selling a collection that they were just trying to get rid of, I would drive 4 hours if necessary to go buy a collection for 50 bucks or whatever it may be, but I managed to stack so many good cards throughout the years and I got a lot of crap from my family over it, especially my wife's family, but now that everything is happening, now that it's making the news on a regular basis, they're starting to see the Brilliance of my plan... I've been spending a lot of my money on scarcity lately, trying to stay away from all of the hype unless it's somebody like Tom Brady's 2020 Buccaneers cards, but I've been trying to find scares things like A Question of Sport cards, a trivia game (like the wwe game that's cards have recently caught FIRE) out of the UK that has some fantastic cards that are selling for a lot of money... I've been buying as many boxes of those as I can, I want to find the thing that hasn't blown up yet and the only way you do that is if you're willing to take the risk, I bought a bunch of David Beckham about a year ago and I'm really glad I did that... I bought a bunch of Marvel, I bought a bunch of wrestling, I've pretty much been ahead of the curve and now I'm just going to sit back and wait for everything to get his valuable as it can.

      If you're referring to the average sale price I reference in these videos, I go off of all the tracked sales on PSA's website. But to be fair, I've been thinking about going off the last 10 sales (when available) so the average sale price doesn't seem misleading as to what you could buy it for today.
