Soak those cast iron griddles for 24-48 hours in distilled vinegar and the rust will dissolve. Then you can recondition them like you would season a frying pan.

I already flipped them for 50 and didn’t clean them.
⛷⛷⛷ If y’all have a self cleaning oven you can put the griddles through 1 or two cycles then they’d just need to be reasoned or so I’m told... that said I too would probably skip the hassle and pass the work onto another.

Even though people may think you are talking to yourself, I appreciate how you talk while you are at yard sales. Your thought process helps other resellers and honestly it's easy to get distracted or bored when the whole video is just showing what they have for sale with No talking.

Look up how to redo a cast iron skillet using electrolysis...it is not hard and my cousin gets them cheap and makes a lot of money on the rusty ones like the Number 7s you had. A great video here. I am going through and watching the older ones that I missed and I love it.

Question, you ever check the zippers on jackets, sweatshirts, purses, totes etc? Too many times I have bought something, brought it home and then found the zipper was broken. I do not fixed zippers. So now I check them all.

those griddles sometimes just have a line on the bottom known as a gatemark, this dates it to pre 1890, FYI
Gate marks mean it's the real deal: older than 1880 and a true antique. Gate marks were remnants from the casting process, when the piece would “break the mold.” It looks like a slit or gash. If you find cast iron with a gate mark, it hardly matters who the maker is - it's valuable!

I have seen those old rakes turned into jewelry displays for necklaces at lots of vintage shows I go to. Lots of people looking for the ones with patina.
The number 7 I do believe represents the side-eye on a wood-burning stove I know the number is correct on cast iron skillets so I would assume I'm correct on the griddle

kevin, you should have picked up the free pitchfork and the free pickaxe. Lots of people use them for making crafts and for displays. AND they were FREE.

The cast iron has to be cured. It’s a process that takes about two days.

Kevin it is well worth it to watch a couple YT videos on cleaning iron skillets, it makes the price double and triple. Also you can find markings after applying some cleaning methods. My uncle would buy old pot belly stoves and clean them for lots of extra money and they had different plates that fit in the top of some of them. Some of the processes to clean are not really hard or intense but learning best way to clean different qualities makes a big difference....

If you get tempted to purchase a truck for larger items, don't, and I'll tell you why.
Get a cargo van instead. No seats in the back, and can haul 12 feet long items....And everything stays dry.......Trust me, I've been doing this for years. I've had a ford E-150 Cargo Van for years.

Catherine, since Kevin looked at her lower back, not sure he knows! Check the back of her neck near the hairline. I think the older ones say Pleasant Co. or Pleasant Company, the newer ones I haven't seen, heard they were bought out by Mattel, check there for American Girl or Mattel. Battat are the 'fakes'.
