Thanks! for my 3 min countdown I used excel to create the numbers in seconds. I just insert the first text 03:00 in a box and the next just below it 02:59. Use your cursor to select both boxes then drag down until you see 00:00, then copy and paste it into your textbox.

That’s such a clever trick! Thanks for sharing 🙌🏻

I am doing a 5min countdown (so, lots of numbers!) and when I paste from excel, the text box doesn't resize. I can resize it manually (the little bit that's in frame at the time), but is there a hotkey or something that causes the text box to expand to fit what's in it? This is taking foreverrrrrr.

I appreciate this video, however I needed a 15 minute countdown video. Your first one using the timecode worked better for me, however I like the look and customability for of this method.

I can't believe how complicated it is to create a simple TIMER

Love this video! I'm having a problem I am hoping you can help with: I'm doing a 5 min countdown. When I get to the final step and add the posterize time effect, I change the Frame Rate to 1. When I hit play the time ticks as expected, however, the time text drifts/scrolls downward. I've walked thur this tutorial a number of times and can't see what I'm doing wrong. Any help or ideas?

ok I think I solved my own problem. I had the time line set at 05:00:24frames. When I set it to 05:00:00frames that seems to work. Those extra 24 frames thru things off. Also, I don't know if this had anything to do with it either, I made sure my sequence frame rate was 24.

Interesting. This could be useful if you had a scene requiring a countdown to action showing in a corner, or just on screen in general.

what would be the benefit of doing this, as opposed to making it in after effects and bringing it into premiere pro?

Thanks for this helpful video Chris! Just wondering, is there a "proper" way of saving/exporting this timer that we did to be used on other projects or do we have to do this very time we make a new video? Thanks in advance!

@@mp4business82 Make sure the posterize time appears above the text under the essential graphics tab while the text is selected on the timeline
