Ah. After School. They originally debuted with 5 members(Kahi, Jungah, Bekah, Soyoung and Jooyeon) and were originally going to have a graduation system kind of like the 48 groups in Japan. The.1,2,3 girl is Bekah, she is actually a Korean from Hawaii.(and my original bias). You have to watch the live stage they introduce the addition of E-Young to the group, it is EPIC.
After School Red and Blue were two units created in 2011. After School Red consisted of Kahi, Jungah, Uee, and Nana. This unit took on After School's signature sound and concept (aka sexy and mature vibes). Whereas After School Blue consisted of Raina, Jooyeon, Lizzy and Eyoung. This unit was the opposite of its counterpart; they took on the cuter and more bubbly concept. However the units weren't permanent. They were only temporarily split into units for that particular promotion cycle. The two units released music and promoted simultaneously (they were single albums). After School Red released "In The Night Sky" as the lead single (with "Hollywood" being the b-side track). After School Blue released "Wonder Boy" as the lead single (with "Lady" being the b-side track). "In The Night Sky" was an upbeat dance track with a delightful melody and instrumental (super summery and bright vibes). "Hollywood" was an electropop track featuring heavy bass and club music elements (has stronger and darker vibes). "Wonder Boy" was an energetic bubblegum pop song (almost like Orange Caramel but minus the quirkiness). "Lady" was a slower paced RnB song (super soothing to listen to and has a catchy melody). Note: While the lead singles ("In The Night Sky" + "Wonder Boy") were unit songs (4 members on each track), both b-sides ("Hollywood" + "Lady") were actually sung by the full lineup (all 8 girls).
Kahi is the one who got the idea about the concept for this song. They trained for 8 months for the drum performance. The song placed 1st on music show but they can't receive the thropy since there was a huge national accident (sewol ferry accident) so music show were cancelled. Thankfully the group will have a reunion stage for this song, Bang+Diva through mmtg channel and sbs..
The one who did the rap part aka "1,2,3" is Bekah :) She is one of the best 2nd Gen GG rappers. You should check out "Because of You" if you haven't already. It is my favourite After School song and the one that really pulled me into the group. It is also the era that introduced Raina (my bias) and Nana! There are two sub-units other than OC. After Schol Red (cool concept) which consists of Nana, Uee, Jungah and Kahi and After School Blue (pure concept) which consists of Raina, Lizzy, E-Young and Jooyeon. Definitely check out both ;)
