I know. The only thing on their menu I can have is their drinks. I have a stringent diet [not by choice mind, I'd be so ill I ate any of this] :-(
Store manager of greggs. Its long days. 5am starts and everything is delivered fresh in the morning or prepared and baked on site. Nothing is taken over to the next day. All store waste is given to local homeless shelters.
At my store we take some items to the next day, like cookies, jammy heart biscuits, gingerbread men, fruit and pasta

I worked at Greggs and wasn’t allowed to give it to the homeless: also some things were taken over a couple days aka Jammie hearts were day +5 or something. At the end of the day eveuthing was counted, put in bags and sent back; presumably to be binned, such a waste

commentary of a greggs worker:
- our pizza is just frozen pizza lmao
- sausage rolls are the bane of my life
- the sausage of the bean and cheese is a bit different from the sausage roll
- the cheese and onion tastes soooo much better warm, less chunky
- yes, we have to revise the pasty designs
- that is a regular steak bake! vegans, please do not eat that!
- chicken bakes are delectable, how dare you
- the vegan roll just tastes like stuffing
- oh thank god he noticed, yes that is now the vegan one, very oniony
- our potato wedges are just mccain’s
- the chicken in the hot sandwiches is plain chargrill chicken haha
- the toasties are only floppy because they’ve got sweaty in the bag
- yeah if you get a cheese salad baguette, you’re a bit boring
- we usually put about double the amount of that onion on the tuna crunch
- there’s so much lettuce in the wraps cause they would be flat as fuck otherwise lmao
- ham salad is actually one of our best selling sandwiches surprisingly
- we have chutney on the cheese and chutney toastie, which may only be regional
- yes we’ve had so many returns cause of the chargrill chicken being pink. we promise it is cooked!
- we don’t make the pastas so i cannot comment
- we also don’t make the things that are pre packaged
- that gingerbread mans probably been sitting out for a few days, same with the rest of the biscuit goods
- we bake the cookies from frozen, they smell sooo good when they come out of the oven
- we get all the cakes delivered in, they can sometimes be wet from being in a van with frozen pasties

- damn i wish we served tottenham cake, that must be a regional thing also
- the inside of the triple chocolate doughnut is vanilla, extremely sickly
- we don’t even sell bananas in our shop haha
final thought:
interesting video, but i’ve noticed you’ve missed out tons of food! we have more baguettes, bread packs (regular triangle sliced sandwiches), more fruit pot options than just grapes. we also do an abundance of cream cakes, more doughnuts and muffins. but oh lord the amount of calories you ate. i am sorry.

I remember I somehow went years without eating Greggs, then some months back (before corona) I got myself a sausage roll and I was in shock and I was in awe because it was so gooood.

I used to work at Greggs and yes the different designs are to tell the difference and it’s strict we can’t mix vegetarian pasty’s with meat products. We also have to be good at balancing out how much to cook due to wastage. They were quite strict with that to.
This gives me flashbacks to things I’ve eaten once and then forgot that I’d had

There’s loads of comments about different pastry’s then they didn’t have but I think there are some variants across the country so they wouldn’t be able to get them all. Also they don’t always have everything at once

I immediately clicked on this to see if he’s got the southern fried chicken baguette, my favourite thing from Greggs that isn’t from the counter. The delicious soft chicken accompanied by the sweet chilli sauce, crisp red onions and cheddar cheese. Honestly it’s amazing.
Ugh the one place I didn’t get to when I visited the UK was Greggs 💔💔 at least now I know what not to get 😂
