Lyrics: I remember sky. It was blue as ink. Or at least I think I remember sky. I remember snow, Soft as feathers, Sharp as thumb tacks, Coming down like lint, And it made you squint When the wind would blow And ice, like vinyl, On the streets Cold as silver, White as sheets, Rain like strings and Changing things Like leaves I remember leaves, Green as spearmint, Crisp as paper. I remember trees, Bare as coat racks, Spread like broken umbrellas And parks and bridges, Ponds and zoos, Ruddy faces, Muddy shoes, Light and noise and bees and boys and days. I remember days, Or at least I try. But as years go by They're a sort of haze. And the bluest ink Isn't really sky. And at times I think I would gladly die For a day of sky.
Denis, I was interested in doing a youTube video singing I REMEMBER using your great performance as a backing track. I love this piece from EVENING PRIMROSE as brings back memories of a previous part of my life long gone. Obviously you would have to hear the performance to allow this. I am a Primary Care Physician for 34 years and not quitting my "Day Job!" But I have something unique to say through my singing and plan to submit quite a number of songs from the 30's- the seventies if I can master recording them! Thanks for considering. Paul
Your comment is six years old. I myself am a retired judge, having retired in 2014, and currently am 77 years old. I’ve been taking singing lessons since 2013 now and have performed in a few showcases. I’m working on this song right now. This song seems fitting for the December of my years, it’s heartbreaking, as I’m sure you’ll agree, Doctor.
It's just a piano accompaniment for the song version. I don't actually remember which Sondheim book I took it out of - but any book that has the song in it should have this arrangement, or something very similar.
I was interested in doing a TH-cam video singing "I Remember" using your great performance as a backing track. I love this piece from EVENING PRIMROSE. The music brings back bitter-sweet memories of a long ago time in my life. I would obviously get you a disc of the performance for your approval and both our names would be on the performance if you like what you hear. Re EVENING PRIMROSE, My wife so happens to be fiercely loyal to Macy's! Thanks for considering.
Lyrics:
I remember sky.
It was blue as ink.
Or at least I think
I remember sky.
I remember snow,
Soft as feathers,
Sharp as thumb tacks,
Coming down like lint,
And it made you squint
When the wind would blow
And ice, like vinyl,
On the streets
Cold as silver,
White as sheets,
Rain like strings and
Changing things
Like leaves
I remember leaves,
Green as spearmint,
Crisp as paper.
I remember trees,
Bare as coat racks,
Spread like broken umbrellas
And parks and bridges,
Ponds and zoos,
Ruddy faces,

Or at least I try.
But as years go by
They're a sort of haze.
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky.
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky.
Thanks so much!
Haven't listened to this since I used it as one of my pieces for my musical theatre diploma. Forgot how beautiful it was
This is a blessing from the Lord.
This is actually really great to listen to because I'm learning to sing this... Really helps.
Thanks for this! Lovely.

May I use this for a cover?
Please do. :)
Thank you!
Is there anywhere where I could get this as piano sheet music ?
