  • Despite the ASX not going anywhere over the past two years, it's been an incredibly volatile time for investors. We've never been more focused on the macro - whether it be the Reserve Bank's aggressive hiking cycle, worsening geopolitical tensions, sticky inflation, or the risk of a global recession.
So, to help you rest easy at night, Livewire reached out to TMS Capital's Ben Clark so that investors can take a longer-term view.
In this episode of The Pitch, Clark shares four factors that he believes are important when it comes to investing over the long term - including rock-solid balance sheets, industries with structural tailwinds, impressive undisruptable moats, and management teams that are aligned with long-term shareholders.
He also outlines the top three businesses on the ASX in each of these categories, as well as one holy grail stock that possesses all these attributes and more.

Solid choices! How about exploring Cobre ($CBE) for its long-term sustainability play? Its focus on renewable energy could be a great addition to your list. Would be awesome to see it featured in your next video!

Hes quite analytical but the asx hasn't moved for 16 years. We only have a dozen or so inspirational companies. There are 100s of superb companies in the us companies.

Yeah I read that article too. But I think they ignored dividends.

@@michaelwestmoore7129 us is actually much better for dividends. Although the dividends are lower US companies have been growing their dividends for literally decades and their payout ratios are much lower

It feels good to see the market in green, but just how long until we actually break even, I’m the average retail trader, DCA-ing, buying and holding on to stocks for eons, but it’s like I’m up 5% today and down 17% the next week, Yes the market is very Darwinian, there’s winners and losers, and it’s looking like I’ve been on a losing streak, while others make huge 6figure gains in the same market. What strategies are these folks using?

Seriously... 10 stocks for 10 yrs...fund managers do not have crystal ball, accept that reality...they r lucky to get 1 right in 12 months, let alone 10 yrs.

You’re not wrong but this dude just pitched some super boring fundamental business that will over time benefit from global economic expansion. Super based picks.
