Nelson has been the Alto saxophone boss since early to mid-80s. With a Funk-fusion rhythm section, Nelson ably integrates Organic Real Jazz opulence in his performances, which are always cum laude. His altissimos are melodic and right in context - with the feel of the song. On flute and piccolo, his incipient love, Nelson is a classical master. Needless to say, he is of the Dave Sanborn School of Music - so to say. Check him out performing Straight-ahead Organic Real Jazz a la Charlie Parker . "A Night In Tunisia", "Cherokee", etc. do tell the story; they do. The Band is Funking "Funkily"; isn't it? Great post; come again! Thanks for the post.
This appears to be a cover of the Stevie Wonder tune "Another Star" from Stevie's Songs in the Key of Life album. I've got ALL of Nelson's CDs and I'm pretty sure he hasn't recorded it, however.
