We know if you take into account the nuisances of their relationship to each other. At the end they became something of friends but really it was 3 people who were lost in the world who found a path through each other. Mugen didn’t care about anything or anyone because of his regret and resentment of his past. When he came to meet that past he gave up the opportunity of revenge because he realized the guilt isn’t for him to carry. Jin believed he had shamed himself because of his ambition and thought he was a bad person so he helped everyone he came across that asked for help. He later learned through the travels that even good people make bad mistakes/decisions and what we value determines who we are. Fuu was without guidance and sought someone to give her direction in life. Her father dying almost upon her finding him forces Fuu to focus on her own growth and not let ghosts hold you back. They found peace.
My headcanon is that Jin opens a well respected dojo and marries the woman he fell in love with Mugen will roam Japan still picking bar fights but without the part where he doesn't care about anything anymore because he wants to meet his friends someday again And I guess Fuu will just be Fuu maybe she goes on to pursue greatness when she gets older and will once again find Jin and Mugen so that they can see each other again
they were brought together by fate and i’m sure, regardless of whatever path each of them chose to walk in. fate will bring them back together, leading them another round of adventures that i’m sure the three of them can enjoy just like before.
