I did the same as you but without arguments,i don't say you did the wrong thing,here is a nice tip for you:when someone says you have skill issue,give them an existential crisis of what they do and what they promised and didn't,this worked for me really much.
i would do the same as you did tbh but just keep targeting as admin until the flash starts roasting me etc so i can use one shots or other gloves that im good at
