Just got back from a week at Disney world. Getting sold out lightning lanes was a complete game changer. We did 4 parks in one day, started in magic kingdom and Hollywood studios was our 3rd park. Slinky dog was completely sold out by the time we could park hop and had been for a while. I didn’t want to use the 2 hour rule cause we were using genie for magic kingdom. I used standby skipper to snag a lightning lane only a half hour away at around 5:00. We were the last ones on before it shut down for weather!! We would have completely missed it otherwise. I also LOVE that I don’t have to wake up at 7am to make my first selection. I buy genie+ at midnight, set up standby skipper for first available and when I wake up around 8:30 I had a lightning lane return time of park open. It was so nice to skip that annoying genie step and secure that first group time. I definitely won’t do another Disney trip without using standby skipper again. The price is completely worth it!
It’s so nice using it, especially if you want to be able to be off your phone and get a ton of rides done! 🙌🏼 Glad it also worked out for you as well! 😊
Can you share more about your strategy for time frames and number of rides in a search? Do you find SS is best used when you select one ride at a time for as soon as possible because it gives more control? Or were there times you did a search with many rides in one land and had success getting back to back rides (other than afternoon stacking)?
Yes! I have plans to post our strategy for that day including how I booked the rides. In my previous video I shared how it does work best when batching rides (choosing 3-5 rides) at different points throughout the day. Previous video: th-cam.com/video/aphlS2IAuvU/w-d-xo.html My example in this video where I had it only searching for one ride was because that ride had been sold out and it was a high priority ride for us (toddler demands 🙃 lol). So by having it search for only one ride it was more likely to grab that one if it came available. Otherwise we batch several rides to search for!
If we are park hopping, can we set the skipper for one Park in the morning and another park after two when we can change parks and then it’ll automatically set up the afternoon as well? Or can we only be doing one park at a time?
Yes! You can totally use it with park hopping. Just make sure to use the right time requests. So the park you're hopping to in the afternoon, you'll want to have it search for afternoon or evening. :)
Stacking Lightning lanes is best when you are having some downtime either in the park or back at your resort room. So maybe you want to enter the park later in the mid-morning, or you could stack LLs for the evening (we often do this!). Instead of grabbing the soonest time for a LL, you'll wait or have SS search for evening times. Continue to do this each time you are able to choose a new LL selection (or have SS set up to do this). So instead of selecting LLs for different times throughout the day, you'll try to get all of your lightning lane return times for say 5pm-8pm, you could easily get 3-4 LLs "stacked" for that time. :)
Great video! Very informative. We purchased SS thanks to you 😊. Question: we have 3 adults and 2 children in our group. One is an infant and doesn’t have park pass. The other is 3yo and may not make all the height requirements. Does Standby Skipper know to only search LL for the people that can ride the attraction? Or would they search LL for everyone in the group regardless of height? I ask because it’s easier to search for 2-3 people LL than it is to search for 4 LL and I wouldn’t want to miss getting an LL because of this. In short, can we designate who can ride each attraction?
Yes! So every time you submit a search you will designate who you want it to book that Specific LL for! So excited for you! Hope you have a great trip!
The more I thought about it, we’re almost certainly going to use the Genie+ and the app at least 2 days during our trip. Not having our noses buried in our phones is worth the cost IMO!
Do you suggest letting SS pick your first ride pick by only choosing that ride for the 7am grab? Or should we do it manually ourselves in the genie plus app? Also I’m thinking after I grab my first ride pick I will enter in 3-5 rides in that area and then put another 3-5 rides for the afternoon time frame and 3-5 for the evening …. Or do you think it’s better to asap for the entire day ? I just don’t want to be crisscrossing the park I also plan on doing two days at manic kingdom doing fantasyland and Tomorrowland on day one and the rest on day two
You can definitely do both. If you set it for just that ride make sure to put anytime, not asap. If it’s a ride that sells out quickly (slinky dog, Remy’s) you’ll want it to search for anytime. Yes! Definitely grab your first then enter in a few attractions (batching) that are in one area of the park, hoping it grabs those attractions all within a relative time frame. After securing those, add another batch so you always have it searching for attractions! 😊
@@jessicacollins9387 If you set it for asap the app only searches for availability within the next 2 hours. Say it just happens to sell out quickly this day. If you do asap and SS can’t get a return time by 10am they won’t book it at all for you. If you search anytime, the app will grab the LL no matter the time. The likelihood of getting an early return time is high, but never guaranteed.
Great question! So genie+ is per person but Standby Skipper is a one time purchase for a group up to 12. You can purchase 1 day OR you can choose 7 days for a super great price! I explain pricing in this video: th-cam.com/video/aphlS2IAuvU/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps! :)
@@bibbidibobbidibestie yes thank you i went last year and did the g+ and i was constantly on my phone love the idea & technology behind this. im going in march for my golden bday and i think this is gonna be a game changer definitely gonna pay the $50 instead! FULL SEND 😂😅
@@amd23lovinglife I completely understand the frustration of being on your phone booking LL. Standby Skipper helped me cut down on my screen time in the My Disney Experience app, and book most or all of the lightning lanes we wanted! I think it’s going to be an awesome treat for your trip and I hope you have the BEST birthday at Disney World! 🤩💕
Chances of everyone using it the exact same way in each park is likely small. I have a different park strategy with my kids than a solo AP does. But if every single person who purchased genie+ also purchases SS, I’d see us primarily utilizing the ‘anytime’ option 😊
@bibbidibobbidibestie Yes, and I wonder if Disney somehow shuts it out. I'd still use it for thr auto find me a LL as opposed to staring at my phone all day. Lol.

Strong case for purchasing the app. Can you buy one day and upgrade to all 7 later?

I think your MK plan is smart and what I would do to really take in everything within MK! 🙌🏼 Hope your trip goes well!
So if I want to get Peter Pan as our first ride your saying I should set it for anytime not asap ? Will it’s get it for me at opening you think ?
This may be a dumb question, but Does Standby Skipper have to be open and running in the background of your phone in order to complete the searches.
