As a queer person I choose not to be completely offended by the 1980 version of what Blackthorne said. It's indeed offensive to modern ears. You can't deny that such homophobia went unquestioned for centuries due to cultural and religious beliefs. To deny this unquestioned prejudice would not be genuine to history.

What? No way!!!!! I think it's been modernized in terms of showing her training session as well as actual fighting with naginata. I thought the 2024 version was much more nuanced than the 80s'. Japanese women have many layers, and they show only what people want to see, and Ana brought that trait to the show for sure.
