Oh Donny…..You were such a good man (except for that little cheeky bit….but I think the rider judge might have deserved those little bucks!). He looked amazing, you have done a great job with him! ❤❤❤

I think he looks absolutely stunning here! The improvement since I started following you is huge! He’s beautiful and I’m sure it will all slip into place. Also you do really well riding such a large horse when you’re only 5ft 2 - very effective! 😊

Lots of positives there, first time in that sort of environment, and he smashed it, he didnt act up, or start spinning, or anything crazy!
Shame about the ridden judge, but as you said none of the horses went well for her.
Don looked majestic!! Another day, a different riding judge, and the sky's the limit!!

Bummer. Agree with everything you said. He's still a big baby but he's gorgeous.

The ride judge didn't realise she was riding a baby so didn't do him any favours. He is a lovely horse withlots of potential 👍🏼

Regardless of the results he is looking sooo much stronger and grown up! You're right, he didn't look out of his place at all. Xx

He looks amazing and he certainly fit in with the other class entries. Love your attitude re his training and expectations. Not all ride judges are made equal. The next one will be his type. As you say, onwards and upwards. It's all perfect experience. ❤

There are too many judges getting on the panel these days who have terrible heavy hands....been affiliated showing since the 80s and it has got worse and worse in recent years. Keep on going you'll learn the good ride judges and which ones to avoid 😀 he looked a pictures

Thankyou she’s a shire horse rider predominantly, we’ve always been fairly lucky with ride judges but Donny’s quite young so found it confusing with having the handbrake on. If your ever in Norfolk you’ll have to come have a ride xx

Some horses have too much weight on them in show classes.

Also leaning back makes the horse look awkward.

Horses are generally fatter for showing than other disciplines but they do have to be fairly fit still. I do liaise with a nutritionist to get this balance right. Also show riders must remain tall like dressage riders and have a long lower leg so lean into the canter strides. I do find this quite hard as I prefer riding with a shorter stirrup.
