I watched Drew Pearson in the seventies and he was dangerous. Unfortunately the receiver position is perhaps the most difficult to break through. Not only Drew has been snubbed but many other great receivers of his time have been too. Cliff Branch is the most prominent that comes to mind. Harold Jackson. No receiver of the seventies had more yards and more touchdowns than Jackson. Eagles great Harold Carmichael is another. When he retired he was among the top 5 in all major receiving categories. His name is never brought up. Others include Stanley Morgan, Wesley Walker, Ottis Taylor, and many more from a bye gone era. Sadly, they'll probably never get in. Or, if they do, be too late and a family member will speak in their place.

Fast forward, and this great player is going to get his jacket. I was priveleged to witness one of his highlights in person. Rams at Dallas, '73 div. playoff. I had gone to the concession stand. I was part way to my seat and decided to check in on the game. Walked thru the entrance, I was above the endzone behind Dallas, on their own 17. Roger went back and heaved it. 2 LA D backs ran into each other, Drew caught it and scored 83 yds late. Thanks for the memories Drew, and welcome to the Hall.

Drew Pearson was all over the field whether he was involved in the play or not, trying to help his team win the game.. what were the requirements for Hall of Fame induction again???
Harold Carmichael was blessed with size, speed and drafted into the NFL. Drew did not have any of those things. What made Pearson great was his hard work and courage. When i watched Carmichael play he was usually running for sidelines while Pearson who is much smaller was going over the middle in front of linebackers and safeties. I would have taken Pearson before Carmichael.
