I’ve been using the 8bitdo Pro 2 for a couple of months and I have to say it’s the best 3rd party controller out there for the Switch. For 50€, you get tons of features (including the ability to remap the buttons and sticks on the fly with the Ultimate Software app) and the build quality is like a 1st party controller.

The Pro 2 is certainly very good... But the one I got seems to have a faulty BT switch, because it loves to disconnect if you so much as look at that toggle funny. I had to go through the radical procedure of removing the toggle switch so it wouldn't do that anymore, AND EVEN THEN it would still do it on Android and PC. the pro controller biggest problem is its too heavy. dpad is its second problem as frankly that only affects classic games.
for a while, the power a wireless was my solution to the weight problem. but its dpad is too small, so i kept searching.
Finally i settled on the hori wireless horipad. it is light weight without being small, and has a great dpad. i used it so much that eventually the ZR button lost its click altho still works. I dont mind the missing rumble or amiibo functions.
i mainly rotate between these 3. but i gotta say the pdp little wireless gets some use as well. its compact and convenient, without much compromise. i wont use it for splatoon or any long intense sessions, but for quick games or casuals like animal crossing its nearly perfect. i also find it great for street fighter and 2d plaformers because the lack of handles makes the big dpad accessible even with a standard layout.
All 4 of these are different makes and officially licensed, and wake the switch. the pdp has a stubborn habit of trying to reconnect even if you turn off the switch or disconnect it from the menus. the solution is to always click the sync button briefly to turn it off.

I’m not risking my money to buy chinese controller again. My gulikit kingkong pro controller broke 5 months after buying, and my 8bitdo pro 2 broke 6 months after buying.
If you have the money, buy the original nintendo pro controller and for pc buy cheapo wired xbox controller. Don’t buy multipurpose controller, it broke easily in my experience.
