Wow, i have watched nearly 10 different videos on drawing textures and you sir by far have the clearest and most well explained video on youtube great job and thank you..
@@sadiemaxfield7566 actually since I suck compared to this guy, I think I *accidentally* made a better metal just because of my inability to properly follow instructions- it looks more glassy and reflective.
That was excellent in every way. I do put down a base layer for the wood, for nearly everything actually. Your brick texture is excellent. Better than mine, better than just about any I've seen anywhere. This is why I wish TH-cam had been around when I was young and just learning to draw. When I was young, actual demonstrations were mostly limited to in-person opportunities. This had its advantages, but it meant being limited to the techniques that one artist used, This made it very limited, even over years, I see more demonstrations on TH-cam in one week than I had in ten years of my youth. Anyway, that really was an exceptional execution of texture.
I also loved the bricks. I'm wondering though....if me learning from you is more about following your techniques to achieve a level of art, or praying for eyes like yours that "sees" the shape in the marble... Good stuff, Dan.
Thank you so so so ( x infinite) much for the help! I couldn’t have done this! I had an assignment due, and I didn’t know how to create the brick or metal or wood texture. You made it even easier than I thought it would be! Thank you so much! 😊 You also made my day C:
I absolutely LOVED this tutorial! It helped me a lot and I really appreciate you creating this free content for all of us to watch! The only problem I had was I lost my pencil sharpener a long time ago so I didn’t have the sharp detail for this. Even so, again, I LOVED THIS! It really was super helpful as a starter since I’ve been drawing for about 8 months now, and still learning! ❤️
Have you ever used Rapidograph pens that use india ink? The technique you use could be used with ink pens. I am a person who loves to use pencils and gray scale techniques. I also draw with black ball point pens. I always understood how to use the gray scale but had problems working with color when I first started out as an artist. I am a professional artist/illustrator from Western Montana. You should try using professional polychromos pencils. Keep up the excellent work!
Them bricks though... what pencil types did you use though for the bricks and did you do anything with regards to sharpening etc to affect the drawing?
I think the metal one is harder because there's so many fine lines next to eachother long and straight, it's not easy to draw a good metal grain surface
I'm wowed! ( as I couldn't find in the description box your equipment, I'd like to ask you about your fine eraser pencil ...?) Thank you Dan, for your detailed tutorials!
I don't understand how to add that dotted effect, I'm drawing a cat standing in front of a brick wall at school and i want to get the best marks ever in art but i dont understand how those beautiful colour variations and specles are made. Ill be practici though!
@@guillermogutierrez-santana4446 Sir, I asked Dan & your reply makes me think the opposite. 1) I would use a mechanical pencil for that purpose, 2) He usually uses a mechanical pencil, hence my original question.
I'm pretty sure that's a Mono Zero by Tombow. Very nice eraser. There's a list of his equipment in the description of one of his other videos: th-cam.com/video/W6j_iAZpBfw/w-d-xo.html

Francisco Alafa no problem
Thanks a lot. You saved soooooo much time ⏰🙏
PandaPowers 530 no problem! I'm happy to help :)
It's actually not too difficult when you can see the process on how more professional artists do it step by step.
If you made the sketch that’s on your dp..well done😂😊
After so many years of having trouble with texture I can't believe it's actually really easy x.x
Thanks for this.

Brandon Zanella that's great I'm glad you liked it, thanks!
That is Great
Woah that brick was 💯%realistic
I think the metal could be better. Not that I could do any better, to be honest. The bricks and the wood were on point though!!!

Art By TessieJo I think it’s knowing how and then doing it 1000 times.

Thanks Dan for your guidance
i will find my pencil case and do this because this video has inspired me to better drawing.
Nice bricks.
Nice videos sir
Wow, Thank you for helping me out with my art project!
is you pencil faber Castel, the draw was great, I use Staedtler. do you think Faber Castel is better?
ur techniques r just amazing ...thanks for this tutorial
you are amazing! So young and such talented!
I think the metal one is harder because there's so many fine lines next to eachother long and straight, it's not easy to draw a good metal grain surface
a slower sketch tutorial plz? how many a day should i do?
I'm wowed!
( as I couldn't find in the description box your equipment, I'd like to ask you about your fine eraser pencil ...?)
Thank you Dan, for your detailed tutorials!
Alexandra Wimmer judging by the green and gold it reminds me of a Faber castell sketching pencil idk
Thanks a lot Dan!
Can you just do what he does, but with colored pencils? Or is there a whole other technic for colors?
th-cam.com/video/EBN1ask8yi8/w-d-xo.html
This video demonstrated good focus and concentration, something I like to push
Well you sir have just made an amazing Minecraft texture
Great video mate. I’ve tried brick wall texture in one of my videos and it turned out really well. 😉
Really helpful thx again 👍:)
Cloudy Rain thanks, you're welcome:)
Drawings are more beautiful than real things .
شكرا لانك وضعت الترجمة للغة العربية
Dan, I am going to draw out the wood texture several times, but I want to know how you draw it perfectly in slower steps.
but how do you shade over that? do you just cover what you've done in a big black shadow?
What pencil did you use in shading for the wood? I mean like HB or 4H something like that
Can I ask.. How long did it take you to drawing each texture?
Thanks
this was really helpful, dan. thank you. :)

Awesome
Ok but how did you do the wall behind the brick, how did you make it look like that
2 years later another question on drawing the wood texture; why not do the wood shade first before the texture?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
can you do glass textures please
M I N ECRA F T
*Brick* 👍👍
I like how he "quickly" drew the square when it would have taken me an hour with a ruler! Yeah, I suck at drawing
Great video and teacherBut where's the first video which can I start learning from??

What’s that easer you used on the metal texture called
Thanks, great video. I noticed you, in this video, are using a regular pencil & not a mechanical one. Reason please?
Larry Glatt doesn’t have to sharpen it and has a fine edge for the eraser
@@guillermogutierrez-santana4446 Sir, I asked Dan & your reply makes me think the opposite. 1) I would use a mechanical pencil for that purpose, 2) He usually uses a mechanical pencil, hence my original question.
Im still working on textures of shadows
How would I draw rust?
love the eraser. can i have the details please?
Really, is that easy?Wow
can you somehow apply this to Pixel art?
Hello, What class of hardness (HB, 2B, 4B) do you use to draw your bricks?
I don't get it :/ I have the same pencils but how do you be so steady and sharp? Mine is all gray and fuzzy :[
Please do glass in a window and wooden weather boarding.
This actually tought me something
Also the asphalt in roads
I wish I would have seen this video two months ago, even though it wasn't released yet at the time xD
My tech class is using this video

So cool :з
I’m here for my art class

Me doing wood on a tiny scale with a 6H pencil like: 👁👄👁
What kind of eraser is he using that is so fine tipped?
I'm pretty sure that's a Mono Zero by Tombow. Very nice eraser.
