    THANX for the 9-5 content mate... it's much appreciated. Those (2001 onwards) 9-5 AERO seats are simply the best ... also there's the Worlds coolest (and most over engineered) cup holder. The way it softly glides & turns while it opens out of the dash is something you never get tired of. I sure love mine.

    Recently bought an 2005 9-5 aero sw, im completly in love with the car, watching your videos just makes me love it more... My 9-5 also has that front bumper, witch i think that is the most sexy bumper available for the 9-5. More 9-5 videos man! Greetings from spain!

    My first SAAB I drove was 9-5 Estate Vector 2004 with automatic gearbox and I was sold, I loved it. The seats was breathing comfort and that sport mode was fantastic and at the same time it was practical. Then I tested the 9-3 TTiD Aero Sedan by a friend and I loved that one too. Now I own my own SAAB 9-3 TTid Aero Estate from 2010 and that is a really nice car. Would like to drive the latest new generation 9-5. I notice the first time those nice features that was packed into a car most of them is standard. Cars that was designed that was born from jets and the harsh and challenging artic enviroments. These cars are great to drive either if you cruising or drivning sporty. I miss our swedish automotive company.

    Nice Saab. Very safe and comfortable car. I had 4 Saabs I live in NH. I would put on 4 studded winter tires with rims and all were amazing in snow. The 99' 95 was the best. Great videos thanks. SAAB FOREVER.

    You know you're a Saab guy when you drive other cars and quickly realize that the ignition is in the WRONG place. Every time i drive my BMW 325 which is my secondary vehicle, i always reach down with the key to the center console because i forget the ignition isn't in the right place.

    I have a 2004 Saab 9-5 Aero turbo wagon with 50k miles on it. Coffee paint- that I bought brand new. I'm having a hard time deciding whether to get a new car and let her go. She's a dream to drive. So much fun,...and the most comfortable seats ever, as you said in your review. I love the car so much and have since 2004. It's only a car, but I'm attatched.

    Fell in love with saabs in 86 a 900s bought in California, drove to Maine 2 days later. That's all it took. Owned numerous since, but still have my first. Although needs some TLC but running when put away. Presently have an 03 9--5 aero auto stg 1 noobtune, sport mode is a blast, seats are definitely some of the best. Also running a 05 aero auto stg 1 noobed with 3"" dp and bsr 2.5" race cat back , sounds awesome, and a 2004 9-5 aero with same downpipe and exhaust, t-5 cams, ets intercooler, big brembo kit from g.s. among a few other things that I recently had noobtuned to stg3+, but it hasn't been on the road yet due to the snow here in maine. Cant wait till spring to see how it pulls. Never thought about sport mode thru the open sid in a 5sp. Hmmmmm.

    Brought my 09 9-3 Aero xwd in for its first service ten years ago. They gave me an 9-5 aero wagon loaner to take to Mohegan Sun to kill some time. Drove it through Yale university and opened it up. Loved the comfort and the performance almost thought of asking to trade. These seats are reminiscent of the 9000 recaros, which were the BEST saab seats.

    You hit a few nails on the head! I have an 02 9-5 Aero, and an 04 9-3 Aero Convertible. Previously I've had 86 900 Turbo (SPG in your country & sadly my only manual Saab), a 1987 UK 9000SE & a 1996 9000 Aero. Saabs rock, especially when you successfully fix those quirky minor issues that crop up.

      I have a steel grey 2005 9-5 Aero with EVERY available option. From what I've noticed here's what sport mode does.
      1) Changes the throttle mapping. From a stand still, at throttle tip in, the ECU sees throttle being at 25% open. At 25% it sees 50% and at 50% it sees 75% and at 75% it sees 100%. After 75% putting your foot to the floor does nothing at all because the throttle is already maxed out at the the throttle body.
      2) Changes the TCU (Transmission Control Unit) shift logic. When rolling, it will hold the gears much longer to keep you in a max power/torque state. When stomping on it it decouples the torque converter immediately while simultaneously kicking down a gear while also opening the throttle at an increase of 25% more then with sport mode off which is why the car takes off like a rocket when passing in sport mode.
      3) Change in Torque request.
      Since T-7 is a torque demand based system, in sport mode, the turbo spools way faster and higher earlier because it's trying to supply an increase of 25+% of on demand torque.
      The only drawbacks to sport mode is your fuel economy vanishes just as fast as the cars you pass in this mode and if you drive around with ESP/TCS off, it's really not hard to accidently start spinning your tires (even in second gear).
      At least these are my findings with my Aero in sport mode.

    I just picked up a well cared for and well loved 2004 9-5 Aero in Nocturne Blue. I have to say the seats are beyond comfortable in this car. The bolstering makes a huge difference. I had a 1999 9-5 wagon manual and remembering how that car felt compared to this, there is a world of difference. Not gonna lie, felt like Hoovie's Garage picking it up because this car was only 1300 all in and came with 10 Saab wheels not including the wheels on the car. I'm so excited to have this thing.

    You speak the truth ! I have recently been driving a whole slew of cars. I drive them asking myself:
    “How much better is this (Merc/Audi/BMW etc) than my 2008 9-5 Aero Estate (Wagon in US) ?
    The answer is almost always - It isn’t !. When you dial in comfort and pace and all those undefinable Saab things - it really takes today’s top end Jags and Beemers to beat it. Subtle and special and well nailed in the vid !

    I just bought myself a -01 Aero to have as a winter car, i also own a Saab 9-5 Vector -10 that ill keep for summer. It has rolled 320000 km or 199000 miles. It had a few broken parts that i will have to repair for maybe 300 Euros and the desiese that most Saab 9-5 has, the rust on the rear hatchet and wheelehouses. But i bought it for 800 Euros. It has a few cool extras like fan cooled seats, no sunroof tho. But if it is realiable ill problbly fix the rust, headlights and get it a facelift in the future.

    I have two SAAB 95 aero (2002 & 2008). The 2002 has a genuine leather seat while the other one has a leatherette which GM produced it. I owned a 9000T, 9000CSE, 95 SE (V6) and these two Aeros. I'll give these cars to my two sons soon in which they also live to drive it. Currently, I'm driving an Audi A6, but my heart is still with SAAB. Perhaps if they didn't close, I might be driving another SAAB by now.

    Had the same bumper style on my '05 vector sport wagon with a LPG conversion. Mine was scraped too lol.
    Love the seats and the engine too.
    Reliabilty.....1st one was good, 2nd one not so much, 3rd one has had new battery, thermostat, sparkplugs, DIC, crankshaft position sensor and valve cover gasket so far.....still to get to the coolant leak and a hole in the back of the exhaust system.
    Only ever had 9-5 wagons for the size and things like the sensible and well thought out key position.
    And my last 2 have been autos with sport mode! On my '06 aero the sport mode does a single stage kickdown when you floor it to overtake it's like getting shot out of a catapult....my '05 vector sport did a 2 stage kickdown whether in sport or economy mode on the gearbox. Think the '06 tries to lock out the torque convertor more and keep the revs up off throttle too. Sport mode at traffic lights in the LPG wagon was an absolute hoot as LPG is about half the price of petrol round here so I could mash it everywhere.

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you referring to those mickey mouse seats? :-D

    • @PeterChomanic
      @PeterChomanic 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Riiight :D those (which people also insert into og900 for obvious reasons). The only other appearance of Recaros in SAAB was a limited run of a R900 (ng900 tuned in Germany) that had a Recaro model of seats previously used in Ford Scorpio. But those were more sporty than comfy. I also replaced seats in my pre-facelift 95 from "flat" to "bold" ones, but those newer style seats don't allow to sit as low as earlier ones, which might feel a bit worse in tight corners despite being more hugging than flat ones from pre-facelift. Anyway, Viggen seats are also nice :) and Hirsch basically combining Viggen seat with "bold" one from 95 for its TrollR makes it perfect combo for me I guess.

      Just upgraded turbo also. Used to have TD04HL - T15. now i'm rolling TD04HL - T19 but i'm not sure about 300hp Rule. Some say that maximum with stock internals is tolerating up to 600hp :) what do you think? cuz i'm planning to screw wastegate rod nut a bit. :D i'm aiming about 1.4 bars which is 20 PSI (made the calculation to make it easier to understand those units. =) *Planning ABBOTT tuning* some minor details like fuel pressure regulator, Launch control (since i' running and 4 gear automatic and turbo spools bit slower than T15 *Turbine size is smaller in T15* ) and iridium sparkplugs with four ground electrodes and so on. =) sounds good upgrade plan? :P what do you think? engine what i'm talking about is B235R with uppercase T originally it has 169kw which is 230HP =)

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd saying anyone who says the stock motor can handle 600hp is on crack and can't be trusted lol. You won't get a whole lot more than 300 before needing to build!

    Sport mode not do much? Shoot, my 06 wagon and 07 sedan both act like they have a tune on it when I hit sport mode. Definitely faster throttle response and shifting. Takes all the turbo lag away, not that there is that much to begin with.

    • @AutoAutopsy

    Wow! your family has gotten 250k miles from your 9-5’s! ! Would love if you’d share the kind of transmission maintenance you’ve done. what mileage intervals, drain and re-fill, or complete flush? Got 90K on my 9-3 and would be thrilled 😃if I could keep it going strong to 250K!

      Drove it around. Power steering completely out, real battle to turn at green lights, not sure if pump or actual rack. Exterior was spotless, one small scratch near gas lid. Interior missing fake wood trim on passenger door panel, not sure if can replace small trim or replace entire door panel. Rear seats were ok, front pass seat has small tears, ebrake handle tattered. Felt weird accelerating my 2.0T 9-3 jumps faster. Still go or nah?

    What’s funny is the 9-5 looks like a BMW from the side and the 9-3 Sport looks like a BENZ from the side. Wonder if that was by design from the beginning?? I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 9-3 Sport and I’ve been told many times by people they thought it was a BENZ from the side view lol.

    Sport mode holds the gear change until it red lines. That's why the manual cars don't have it.

    I completely disagree about the seats. While they weren't an issue in my '99 9-5 (cloth, heated, no memory), they are in my '06 (leather, heated, ventilated, memory). With the steering wheel only having maybe an inch of reach travel, I've never been able to get really comfortable for longer drives.

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should have more room to adjust than that

    • @jdrancho1864
      @jdrancho1864 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AutoAutopsy This is actually becoming one of my automotive pet peeves - the advertised presence of tilt/telescope steering wheels that don't really adjust very much at all. Some vehicles i've been driving have a HUGE range of adjustment in both reach and tilt and it is quick and easy to use, i.e. allowing you quickly to move the wheel up and out of the way, making it much easier to get in and out of the vehicle, and, of course, making it really easy to find a comfortable driving position.
      Not so in the Saab. The reach is just a little over an inch - I measured it. The tilt (rake, if you prefer) is so that the top end of travel aligns with your sighlines of the gauges. Anything lower than that just drops the wheel in your lap, which is a useless adjustment position. So, yeah, I struggle, and I just can't share your assessment.

    I have the 2004 Aero but yours is just a conversion from base. Right Aero interior looks like aircraft brushed aluminum and special soft leather dash. This car does not have performance lowering suspension like factory Aero. Engine start sound is also distinctive on Aero. Nice car but not a factory Aero. Look for Aero on the door sill.

    imo it's a shame that there is a plastic trim that goes around the whole car, you would usually see this on a poverty spec modern car, but it's a bit of a shame on an Aero! (don't even get me started on the citroen cactus)

    Dude, you really need to polish those headlights ;) No Xenon? And you've got the wrong badges! :O
    The looks of the Aero were only Aero-specific in 2004. In 2005, you could get that look for the Vector too, known as "Darth Vader-front"
    Aero 2004-2005 was 250hp ;) Aero from 2006 was 260 due to some hardware changes like the intake pipe.
    The trunk is actually bigger than the wagon. The difference is height, but it is bigger in the sedan.
    Sport mode changes the throttle response yes, but it also changes the shift pattern of the gearbox, actually mainly the shiftmodes. That's why it's only available on the auto gearboxes. If you want sport mode in a manual, you can activate OpenSID and access "sport mode" from there.

      John deneau well GM really fucked up with SAAB like how Ford fucked up with Volvo.
      But GM fucked up worse and than Victor Muller bought the remains of SAAB and than the Swedish government fucked up and stopped a Russian investor from investing in Victors attempt to save SAAB.
      “Sverige behöver ingen bil industri, vi kan bygga vindkraftverk i stället” said one of aver politicians which translates to “ Sweden does not need a car industry we can build wind turbines instead”, I guess that that politicians was corrupt and probably one of those horrible people that drive a Audi.
      Who is in my opinion to blame for SAAB: 60%GM, 15%Germany, 25%Swedish politicians.

      Thats why i hate every American manufacturer, and vw. They are like the Walmart of the auto industry, they have 4 cars and 20 different models so they dont focus on one thing. They sell cheap shit to people who think either "merica" or are looking for something new for 30,000. But for the same money you can get a euro that is worlds better and will last as long or longer even when previously owned.
