    Jason, great real world advice for those starting their career in internal audit (IA) as well as for those in the profession for many years. For experienced IA professionals, the CIA will not do a lot to help them in performing their jobs. It will open doors that might otherwise be closed when applying for another IA position. I wonder how many companies and organizations that mandate an CIA as part of a job recruiting process miss out on talented folks. Having been in top audit executive roles, success really hinges on one's social awareness, communication, and analytical skills. IA is far more of a people job than people might realize.

      Well said. Many people are not considered for jobs because they don't have CIA, but also don't have any other certification, Luckily there are other options now for internal auditors that don't take so long to get as CIA and exclude good people for years from becoming an internal audit. Here are some examples: ondemand.criskacademy.com/p/certifications

    Can’t you just go to community college, grab an AA or Certificate in Accounting, a Bachelors, and an MBA???

      That usually isn't sufficient for internal audit jobs, especially in the USA. Here are some options those for people who need a certification and don't want to wait 2-5 years to get the CIA. ondemand.criskacademy.com/p/certifications

      @@jasonleemefford huh, I’m looking at internal audit job postings 24/7. It’s enough to get you hired and take the CIA exam..

    • @jasonleemefford
      @jasonleemefford  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can go that route but it will take you years of internal audit experience to get your CIA. Many people will not hire people without a certification, and that usually means they can’t meet the experience requirements for the CIA. That is why many people are choosing to go a different path.

      @@jasonleemefford you do know there’s different kinds of Auditors though right? That get paid well, some of the government auditing roles, only require you to have minimal accounting background. They don’t even ask for the CIA..
