    It's amazing how one can fly a tactical mission using hand signals. Once again, you've hit it out of the park with this video. If you make it out to the Salton bombing range, a video of that flight would be the bomb, no pun intended. Go Navy!

    Outstanding pics to be had standing on line only 300 feet from start of runway. If you have the nerve to stand under aircraft less than 200' above you. First time doing this, the Hornets look as if they are coming down on one's head! Not for the faint of heart folks.

The ballsy Growler videos are still my favorites though. Sad you don't have you're ass in one of those still, but sharing knowledge and skills with the new pilots is super cool and rewarding I imagine.

    Is there a video with explanations of the hand signals?
    Now, because I can't help myself - the buymeacoffee people need to update their auto-correct settings:
    "Nothing beets a nice cold one"? (technically beets is spelled right...)
    :)

    • @GrowlerJams

      You mean the “kiss off” or cleared to detach hand signal prior to the break?

    • @bluerex03
      @bluerex03 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Growler Jams Yes. Mostly the "clenched fist" signal. I was able to make a good guess at the other one.

    • @GrowlerJams
      @GrowlerJams  ปีที่แล้ว

      Clenched fist means “cross under” or switch sides of the formation. Cheers!

    Hi Mr. Pail (for lack of knowing your name!). Great video as always, thanks! Question: It sounds noisy in the cockpit, I assume your helmet reduces the sound intensity? Do you have any concerns about hearing loss however? Fly safe and stay away from the Salton Smell Sea!

    • @GrowlerJams
      @GrowlerJams  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It’s very loud. We wear earplugs and it makes the noise much quieter. Hearing loss is a thing in the community. One of the many prices we pay. VA benefits…

    Good ol El Centro..my artillery unit used to go and set up at the Chocolate Mountains the early 90’s. . I ran into El Centro to pick up some hot chow and bring it back for evening meal. I ate at the chow hall while there so I skipped the chow we brought back. Needless to say everyone got the shits later this night…the two Marines I was with managed to escape that calamity , we ate at the chow hall. 😅

    Hi again Pail, the portion of the title of this video is Carrier Brake, I've wondered for a long time if the brake is a tradition, or is there a reason or advantage over a regular rectangle pattern? Thanks again, Rob.

    • @GrowlerJams
      @GrowlerJams  ปีที่แล้ว

      The carrier break is the most effective way to recover a bunch of aircraft at the same time without any comms whatsoever. Check at my recovery video “pinky recovery”, where I hang out in the low holding stack until it is my turn to recover. All this takes place without comms. The break also saves a lot more gas than a stretched out rectangular pattern.
