That’s exactly how they twist your expectations with good character writing, you go in thinking the cool looking characters will be the most fleshed out, but it’s always the more intriguing ones, the ones that seem to have nothing but their gimmick, once you add a bit of tragic backstory to one of those, you have a dangerous thing, an actually likable character.

In Gunn's version his body generates the dots that can be used as weapons via technology. I think he deserves a show written by Gunn. Peacekeeper gets one which looks interesting but yoiu can do more with Abner Krill and other interesting but neglected characters. Even Condiment King could be interesting. Look at him in Batman animated series, the way he acted was like Buddy from Incredibles. He wanted to be taken seriously so he did what he could.
It would movie probaly take before the suicide squad and show with His brothers n sister's it would probably be a sad movie and i would want to see what happened to his mom

That voiceover of him at the end whilst Ratcatcher 2 cries holding the shred of his costume, man that hit me in the feels. Not only did he not want to die by the end, but he'd probably never have guessed he'd be missed, such a nice touch on James Gunn's part to have Ratcatcher 2 carry that shred of his costume all the way to the very last shot we see of her in the film, he deserved that much at least. I also like to think (even though they showed none of this) that it was seeing Polka-Dot Man die that motivated Ratcatcher 2 to go out on top of the car during the final battle, since the last time we saw her was when she took cover earlier. All it would have taken was after seeing him get squashed just one shot of her reacting in sadness/shock, then getting up looking angrily at Starro.
Yeah I really wanted to bust out the feels on this one, as I really felt for Abner And yeah that's a nice headcanon, would be a neat parallel to how he fought back against the soldiers after Milton died
In the beginning he didn't care if he lived or died, but after getting to know his team, for the very first time he had friends and a purpose. Sad to see him go out this way. #RIPMotherfuckingSuperHèro

Abner Krill aka Polka Dot Man is one of the characters I can really connect with him no joke when I was a kid i had a Spider-Man costume and I always used to say IM A SUPERHERO and seeing Abner say I’m a superhero made me tear up.
Literally what I hoped would happen. That when Starro hit him he just pushed him through a portal. But it's just wishful thinking, we see the splat he left ;_;

He thought that prison was his death sentence. Alone, forgotten, and haunted by his trauma. He even had zero hope throughout the mission and only wished to die, but not the death of a coward. The sheer happiness of realizing he is standing up for something and actually being a hero made the kid inside me very happy, but his death made my adult self respect him as he died doing something that created a whole new meaning to his life. He died happy and satisfied, which many did not achieve in their death beds. A true hero.

I used to play a DC Lego game, I'd always play as POLKA DOT MAN (aka my favorite Villain) I loved to fly on a polka dot and seeing him in Suicide Squad I was in utter disbelief, telling my dad (He is a comic book god btw) and he said Polka Dot Man isn't a thing. RIP Polka Dot Man gone but not forgotten.

Polka Dot Man was my favorite in the squad. He reminded me of myself a bit too much when in a group, usually in the background and unsure of how or when to get involved.
He was like the introverted little brother of the team I was happy when Ratcatcher 2 was sad about his death it showed he meant something to the team and his death also meant something to them

King Shark is the lovable yet vicious puppy dog of the bunch, Bloodsport is the tough guy with a soft interior, Peacemaker is the enjoyably douchey frat bro, Rick Flag is a kind straight man, Ratcatcher 2 is the heart and soul of the team, and Polka Dot Man is the awkward yet lovable doofus
As much as I loved the character, Polka Dot Man is indicative of Hollywood's views on mental health, that he was better of dying happy than surviving to continue suffering.
Seemingly one of the most laughable characters, until you realize he is also one of the most powerful, with his powers he could kill any other member of the squad fairly easily. While perhaps only bloodsport given time to assemble his nano-gun could take on King Shark maybe, were as the rest would likely be helpless to fight king Shark.

I think PDM was killed off because he was too powerful in that scene. The actor played him perfectly though and it would be nice to see him again. Maybe a mini Starro should've incapacitated him or something and miraculously his PD's manage to stop him being killed.

He reminds me of Eddie kaspbrak from "It". We all loved them both but they had to die from a big monster. They also could not stop thinking about their weird mother.
We didn't see a body, maybe he's fine and could write around that...? Okay, that's unlikely but god I hate how he went out, like I get they had to take him out because he could've single handedly kill Starro and they gotta raise the stakes but they couldn't give him a proper send off? Maybe he saves one of his teammates but that costs his life but still happy thinking he was a superhero. Something that's not a predictable joke coming from a mile away? Fantastic movie that's just my main and only problem with it honestly
Well let’s honor him for his sacrifice he got what he wished he got to be a hero and unfortunately he died but where ever he went to he’s happy now smiling with captain boomerang and Diablo with all his brothers and sisters let us honor him for not what he has done but for what he did he managed to do he saved everyone (almost) on his team by destroying the leg of starro and aiding in its inevitable defeat but in the end he got what he wanted he wanted to die on this mission and he got that

Ratchatcher holding the scrap of his suit just broke my heart. He finally found purpose for that split second, and got it torn away from him.
