Hayden was a tremendous coach, but even a better man. He transformed not only a football team from losers to winners, but transformed the state of Iowa from cynics to believers. There will never be another coach like him again; he truly was one of a kind. R.I.P. Coach Fry
I hope Jeith Jackson announced the arrival of Hayden Fry in heaven. I'm a Maryland Terrapin at heart but always admired the intergrity of Coach Fry and the consistency of what he did.....
No coach in history did a better job of molding boys into men. A true leader and an Iowa legend. He will be sorely missed. Thanks flor the memories. R.I.P Coach Fry.
What a COACH Hayden was too !! He deserves all the praise that could bestowed upon him 💯 I always LOVED him, and in some ways reminded me of a Dandy Don Meredith !! Good Ole Boy's that knew how to get the most from Our kids, and I KNOW he'd be proud of Kirk, and the job he's done (despite the critics whom have tried to call him a bad Coach) !! Like Hayden, Kirk will take the kids that other schools pass on, bcos they could see what was possible for these kids 💯 Isn't that the majority of what defines a Coach ?? Unlike the Sabans, Meyers, and others whom "Always" get the: Cream of the crop; they (along w/Alvarez, Stoops, and the whole staff cont'd to do, wherever they went ?) ♥💛♥💛♥🏈☝
@@skolvikes8303 Oh Wow, did he ever !! You should see the Coaching staff he'd assembled, and at 1 time was a "Who's Who" of GREAT Coaches 💯 All in their 20's maybe 🤔 Really young at any rate, and the player's he brought in 🔥 Just awesome ☝💪🏈
I had two heroes as a kid growing up in Iowa during the late 70s and 80s...Walter Payton, and Coach Hayden Fry. Especially with Hayden, he just made every game and every interview so interesting and fun. In retrospect, the Iowa teams he coached won a lot of key games. They also lost a lot of key games. But there was something about Hayden that made you just love the guy as a kid, and then adult. He was family...you don't get down on family, and you focus on all the great memories. My years at Iowa as a student coincided with some of his truly great teams, but that was only part of it. It was, and still is, seeing the SWARM come out onto the field. The unity created by a logo and a uniform that is shared by 70,000 every home game. The pride in being a Hawkeye. We were so lucky to have that talented, fun leader. He laid a foundation that 40 years later, is as sound as the day he took the job. RIP Coach Fry.
Damn. Those vids of Bo and Keith Jackson back to back are incredible. Hopefully the three of them are hanging out up there. To be a fly on the wall in heaven...
@@ExiZeTwiistT Lmao. It is me. But it's my friend's ring. He was on Urban Meyer's staff in 2012 when OSU was on probation for the tattoo stuff and went 12-0. Urb had them specifically made for that team. That ring is bad ass as hell....
Great video!!! #RIPHAYDENFRY We have someone with the best seat in the house watching our boys play on Friday vs. USC in the Holiday Bowl. Go get 'em Hawkeyes!!!
He was The John Wayne of Head Coaches and of Coaching. A American Football Hero and Legend. One of The Greatest HC's of All Time. My favorite College HC of All Times. Thanks the only person I really know from the Hayden Fry era is Chuck Long, and not a whole lot more but I will look into it.
@@skolvikes8303 Another great 1 to check would be Ronnie Harmon 😉
I can tell Mr.Fry cared about people and life as much about football. A great man, coach, family man, a great legacy on the field and off
I live in Colorado now, but I will always be a Hawkeye at heart. RIP Hayden Fry, you will be deeply missed
