Let’s be honest the only people clinging on to Gibson are boomers that don’t even play, people that don’t have to pay for their instruments and blind shills.
Schecter started life as an unofficial custom shop for Fender guitars and a maker of replacement parts mostly for Fender guitars. Also, Schecter pre dates their Metal guitar era by quite a bit, and in the US custom shop, they never stopped making old school style guitars along with fancier version of many of their production models. The production (import) guitars were mostly modern spec guitars because that's what customers were buying.
Hunter, greatly appreciate the pro level II II II II (Eleven Eleven) demo inclusion. Some chonky riffs you generated with it and the absolute masterwork from Schecter🔥To those reading I say one thing: Just try it. Dare you. Demo it in your room setup free for 14 days, turn it up sitting between your monitors and let it hit you 😎🤌🧂
Fuji-Gen really does deserve the "legendary" descriptor. They've been making top-tier production guitars for ages. Their in-house FGN guitars are sleeper "best value for money' instruments. I've had a couple MiJ Schecters (earlier stuff). Dunno if they were Fuji-Gen, but they were definitely typical Japanese guitars: impeccable fit and finish, great necks, quality hardware, etc. This new series is _really_ attractive. I don't need an HSS guitar right now (love my Infinite), but I'll take a look at what they're offering. Maybe a bit easier for me to do than for some: I live in Japan. I've been playing (and gigging with) mostly Japanese guitars for a good few years now. Only one non-Japanese guitar in my current rotation (a quite nice 2020 Les Paul Standard, actually...Gibson seem to be getting their act together), with instruments from Infinite, ESP, G-Life, and Kino Factory. As you say, the world-class quality is consistent, the necks always seem to work for me, and they tend to make smart component choices.
I once had a Schecter NV24 made in Japan which was probably exclusively sold in Asia. Man the craftsmanship was insane, it plays wonderful and looks gorgeous
Guitar sounds amazing. Especially with the II II II II amp tone. Sounds very punchy. Would love to see you do a review of the Schecter Justin Beck [Glassjaw] Signature model.
I play Schecter basses exclusively (not endorsed). It's wild to see not only the models they don't market heavily but also all of the variations of the same model over the years. One model will have diamond inlays while the next has crosses/ dashed lines/none or only the 12th fret marker but one year has one diamond while another has 2 and another has offset dots etc.
Big fan of the not outwardly aggressive shredder Schecters. Picked up my first Schecter (Stargazer Prototype) a few weeks ago and I've been loving it, definitely won't be my last :)
@@clintwilson6380 Don't bother with the sub-1000 ones. They have a FR special and nickel frets. You gotta get the ooga booga wood ones at 1300 bucks to get a proper FR and SS frets. Schecter's a ripoff company like all the other big ones.
Not related to the guitar at all, but i'm stoked to see II II II II here. It's become a go to of mine as i can get a pseudo-quad track by comping outtakes from recording my L and R guitars onto a center panned 3rd track and putting II II II II in Mono/Stereo mode on that 3rd track. Massive time saver for song demos.
I bought a Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder in Lambo orange last year. It very quick became my favorite and go to guitar. It’s always the first one I grab.
In Japan, Schecter has exclusive lines, such as the EXCEED series, which are pretty much Custom Shop level guitars, and more affordable lines like the NV/SD series. Schecter Japan guitars are cool and similar to Tom Anderson Guitars.
Last time i heard, you weren't the biggest Schecter fan, but you liked them. It seems you've seen the light! I got lucky, the very first decent guitar i bought used off Craigslist, a Schecter Omen Extreme FR. I paid $300, no clue how old it is but the frets have wear so at least a few years prior to 2021. It's got 5 ply binding on the body neck and headstock, beautiful intricate fret inlays, a gorgeous rosewood fretboard, beautiful quilt top, coil splits, Floyd Rose and deep comfort cuts. You get so much for your money, and they're so high quality.
After you said that color was rare, I figured I had to point out that I have had that color in the form of my 2003 C-1 Elite (complete with a REALLY flamey neck) for close to a decade! This is the best color of all my guitars!
In the rob scallon video where he went to the sch3cter factory he picks up a stencil of a body shape that literally says "strat' on it and the guy says just pretend like you didn't see that 😂
I'm a huge Schecter fan and my dream guitar would most certainly be one of their custom shop models. So I think it's really cool they've introduced these MIJ models as a higher quality import line. And I do think their pickups sound great, especially the single coils. However, when it comes to spending my own money, I think I would be a lot more tempted by Vola. They are literally half the price! Plus I do really enjoy having lots of fun features to play around with and Vola give you a load of tone variations such as being able to switch between series/parallel/single coil on the bridge humbucker, adding in the neck pickup separately and more. For the price Schecter are charging it would've been nice to have seen them load these MIJs with features like that. They do seem to have one unique feature that I've only seen mentioned in one demo - the single coils can be tapped, a completely separate feature to the coil split on the bridge. So you can get more vintage tones from the single coils with that feature. The other thing that puts me off a little is the chunkier, more vintage style neck heel. The sculpted heel you get on Ibanez Prestige and newer Vola models looks nicer. Not that it really makes a big difference playing but is certainly more aesthetically pleasing. Perhaps they wanted to make sure the metal brand plate on the back was nice and big! Seen as I mentioned the Volas, it's actually from watching Hunter's videos that I took notice of them. Planning on swapping my Ibanez Prestige AZ 7 string HSS for a Vola actually as there aren't many 7 string HSS models around, and the Volas have a slimmer neck and flatter radius which I would definitely prefer. However I am planning on getting a Schecter for my first 6 string HSS guitar - not this California Classic though, like I'm getting at earlier in my comment, it's just too expensive for me. I suppose for some people the Japanese quality together with the Schecter brand, looks and pickups will be worth it. I'm gonna go for the MV-6 which is one of their Indoensian models, but gonna replace the pickups with some of their proper USA ones.
Schecter makes the best looking guitar bodies and paint jobs. But they always seem to want to use the headstocks with 3 tuning pegs on each side instead of the 6 on one side like this one. Schecter needs to give more options on bridges, they either force Floyd Rose or through-body bridges, not enough regular trem bridges. Also reading comments at online stores I see that Schecter has a problem with buzzing frets on their mid-range sub-$1K guitars....not cool.
If you're fine with the drop-top style guitars (no carve), then the JDM Schecter JP catalogue has a few with the compact trems (2-post 510 style). Normal models cost approx that range in the country of origin, but as expected from japan (with the exception of Vola), anything under a few thousand dollars you'll get veneers over plain maple caps as opposed to a proper figured cap (exceed series). From the Schecter US site, yes, the figure on this cali classic is also just a veneer.
@@willtato8778 Im totally ok with veneers instead of glueing a half inch maple cap. Even Gibson glues on white bindings to cover the maple cap on the Les Paul. So why not just forget thick wood caps and just use veneers with bindings like Schecter does?
@@monkeyrater you're exactly right. Veneers at a price point are good solutions. However, for $2.5k?! It's really hard justifying that price for a veneer. For not much more (relatively), you can get (as mentioned) a les Paul with a proper cap, binding (which isn't a small task) and other complications such as the set-neck, while being done with American Labour.
Agufish. You have really came a long way since I started watching you a few years back. I love the tone you get out of just about every guitar you play. Plus you play with a lot of feeling and groove. Which gets replaced by technique with some of the guys I watch. Don't get me wrong you have that too. Anyway, I'm just some old dude that gets lost with the stuff coming out these days, but you I like. 🤘💀
The most stupid part of this guitar is that Thomann does not sell blue one and thinks it's discontinued. And the next one is that in US or Japan it cost 2500, but in EU 3200. That's unfair. P.S. My dream guitar.
Love 11 11 so much. Been my go to for heavier things ever since getting it last year. For those that suffer from FOMO; it's always 50% off and has been since release. Don't rush to get it if u don't need it. Lol
Hey Agufish you probably won’t see this but you should consider doing an Agile video. I got the MC3100 and it blows my epiphones outa the water in the same price range in every aspect. Very high quality guitars based out of South Korea💯
Funny, that IS TOTALLY what i think of as typical schecter. All of mine are like C1 classics, not syn sigs. Lol. Monster energy, drywall punching doesnt resonate with schecter to me. Are you at all familiar with the begginnings of the schecter guitar research company.? Drywall punching seems more like YOUR playing style tho. Def. Ha

Looks like Mark Knoplfler’s “Pensa/Suhr” guitar. Looks beautiful.
YeahItDoes...
Man I'm in love with that one
Almost a 1:1 copy of the Pensa - Suhr
My first response to the short of this video. 😮
It dose look similar to the suhr that guthrie govan used to play shape wise forsure
The Fujigen factory makes the Gibson factory look like a pre-school finger painting class.

Their first sig model was Pete Townshend's lol and they still sell the PT tele...
This is the happiest I’ve seen him make a demo track.
That 11 11 plugin is the best plugin I’ve tried for high gain tones.
Honored by that, thanks for speaking up too -- goes a long way. 👍

Have always been a huge fan of SCHECTER! They’re perfect (for me) right outta the box. Diggin’ this one, HUNTER!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Definitely my favorite demo track you've ever done
I'm with you on this. For totally not biased reasons. But seriously, it ripped
Anyone else think Hunter got a new editor? Bc this vid is well edited

Man, that thing looks amazing. Also shoutout for the "Violent Pornography" lick. For whatever reason, I never took you as a SOAD fan :p.
I recently picked up a Saito brand Japanese guitar. It's one of the best guitars I've ever played.
Great demo, would love to see MV-6 too here :D
The purple PT classic is on my shortlist for a new guitar. I'm not a big fan of the tele shape, but that color and the specs are very appealing.
If it was a double cut instead of a single I’d be frothing at the mouth for it

Suhr vibes from this one, I’m digging it! Also the MGK signature flash while showing the different finishes was hilarious 😂

So Hunter what's up with your signature I been waiting years now...with money ready. Are they still doing one?
Wait, so ESP is building at FGN?
