When you listen to it back again knowing that this is about his friend who ended his life, see if you can work out whether the song is written from his friend's perspective or from Ren's because I think that's one of the genius things about this song. It could be from his friend's perspective, what his friend was experiencing and going through, but it could also be about what Ren experiences. It's a beautiful song, and of course extremely sad.
❤ Chinchilla appeared on a talent show called ‘The Voice uk’ she did very well however Covid arrived & put pay to her progression after the show. So glad Ren & Chinchilla found each other.. their voices are perfect together! It’s incredibly difficult to be singing different parts whilst standing so close to each other! Also, it’s filmed at the top of Brighton Racecourse which is at the top of the South Downs.. before the Downs meet the sea. The lights of Brighton are in the background. It an extremely open area which is always very windy!!
Loved your poignant reaction 😉I see this song as having 2 meanings at once. The first becomes obvious with the last line, as others have pointed out Ren lost a friend to suicide and the song is a dedication to him. Painting a picture of the loss and emptiness that follows from having someone close to you make that decision, not knowing how to be you anymore without them in your life. The second meaning I get from it is what it's like to be in the kind of deep, dark depressive state that would lead to someone making that decision. Not feeling 'safe in these halls' being the mind, 'bruises on the walls' being past traumas, 'bodies in the floors' the call of death in the back of your mind. Not knowing who you are anymore because depression strips that from you. Its a very dark but very beautiful song, thank you for covering it.
I agree with you on the halls being a metaphor for the mind, but I interpret the 'bodies in the floor' as regrets from the narrator, or those 'sins (that surround me)' that come up shortly after. Those bodies breathing loudly represents the feeling of guilt for these regrets/sins. At least that is how I identify with the lyrics.
They travelled to the Menai bridge to film this which is the very spot his 19 yr old best friend jumped from. This is about his grief for losing Joe Hughes RIP.
This song is astounding on so many levels. Not only is it gorgeous, it's raw, and as you pointed out, Ren and Chinchilla use a high degree of precision singing in unison. This is the kind of thing most current pop artists are incapable of because it takes practice and the kind of connection these two have as singers. There are also some unusual harmonies here. These two are made for duets. Let's hope they cause other artists to up their game! Another artist Ren does fantastic duets with is Eden Nash. The songs are quite different than those he does with Chinchilla. The recordings show off another of Ren's many skill sets. Check out "Ocean" and "Humble.'"
love this. It reminds me so clearly of the Civil Wars - definitely recommend checking them out too if you're unfamiliar. This whole song was a series of chills and emotions.
Lost one of my best mates/brother-in-law. Sometimes life is just too hard. He tried. Left three wonderful kids. And we are doing grand (now). Super strong and brilliant sis. Try to do my best as an uncle and all that. Love this kind of music because it's real. Zero fake.
Ren was misdiagnosed a decade ago by doctors. He actually had Lime Disease but they thought his mind was playing tricks and gave him strong drugs and the Lime disease ran amuck for 7-8 years. He is currently in canada receiving treatment to undo all the damage done.
This guy doesn't have serious problems, it's the Health system that has SERIOUS Problems! -If you'd been wrongly diagnosed, ignored, wrongly medicated for half your life & drugged up in Asylums whilst missing out on your youth/career then you might understand a little where this fellow maybe coming from. Ren you're da man!
There's a thing I'm going through with Rens music at the moment that I feel really bad about, I call it the Ren Paradox. On the one hand, I really want him to recover, be well, live a long creative life and be happy but on the other, his pain makes such beautiful sounds.
Especially wanted to recommend this song to you guys being musicians I thought you might appreciate it, ren a Liv sangster live I've listened to quite a few ren songs how this hasn't got no views is beyond me but judge for yourself
I think this song sounds hauntingly beautiful, but it is about is friend who committed suicide. Another on to watch is Ren ft.Bibi - Crutch. A glimpse into what Lyme disease (untreated) can do to someone.
Your audio is terrible, wasn't gonna watch the whole thing, but then you said "S'go Den" and I had to watch it all. Good reaction! Just please fix the audio.
Sorry OD Sue and I have discussed it and we are going to do it. I have been sick a good bit and Sue has had to have dental work but as soon as we can we promise we will!! Dont be mad
Ren had a successful oral surgery last week, is mending well. Will release a new song in early March. I am just so impressed with this young man. Every style he puts out is top notch. Never thought I'd say that about rap. Wolf sometimes teasing goes too far. Sometimes you need to be less flippant, even with loved ones who know you're a jester...but no one is *always* in the mood to be teased. Put yourself on the receiving end...how sensitive are you right now about certain things? Now imagine someone poking their finger right into those sensitivities over and over, day after day... know when is enough, man! There's an art to joking and teasing...and a fine fine line into hurtful harassment.

Aye. Clever lad! You may be right.
Enjoyed your Ren reaction, as always. This one is dedicated to one of his best friends who very sadly committed suicide.

No one is making art like Ren right now. He's in a class of his own, It gives me hope that good music is still being made.
Chinchilla is amazing . Love these two singing together.

Beautiful! RIP Joe Hughes 🖤

One word...Amazing

Beautiful and profound. Only Buster was unmoved.
Masterclass 🔥🙏🔥

The end is about his friend who took his life for some years ago.
They have strong chemistry as singers. My recommendation is Ren - "Penitense" (feat. Molly McKinna).
Banger!
it consumes him and he forgets how to be himself after his friend took their own life. (true story)
This guy doesn't have serious problems, it's the Health system that has SERIOUS Problems!

Lots of love too you both ❤

my question is is his genius because of his ills or in spite of it, or both?
liliac just released acoustic version of smells like teen spirit from nirvana
I loved your video!
Check out Ren and Chinchilla one dance its so good too!
he is right about the end, what's going on is that his friend self deleted on the bridge they are singing on good catch.
You would think they are a couple the way they look at each other, though I have heard nothing to that effect.
His friends body was never found which has profoundly affected Ren.
This is a song about losing his friend who committed suicide.
Ren 😍👏👏👏
The last line, about waking up in the night, making a decision and I miss you so, are, I believe, about a friend who committed suicide.
in your defense, Chinchilla is a fire fox.
😂👍🏼
Try some of Rens Rap, Genesis and power are great. Losing it (Fisher retake ) is great fun.
Especially wanted to recommend this song to you guys being musicians I thought you might appreciate it, ren a Liv sangster live I've listened to quite a few ren songs how this hasn't got no views is beyond me but judge for yourself
This song is beautiful, but rough. You should check out Dear God next.

His best friend died. ; means suicide. Semicolon. I wished you researched this before you reacted. Your review would have been more relevant.
Your audio is terrible, wasn't gonna watch the whole thing, but then you said "S'go Den" and I had to watch it all. Good reaction! Just please fix the audio.
It’s probably better in our recent videos / sorry about that. We love a show called Reservation Dogs this skoden and studis 😂🫶👍🏼
I still don’t like it that you Kensington and Direct tribute stopt and not see the whole I even be mad about it
Sorry OD Sue and I have discussed it and we are going to do it. I have been sick a good bit and Sue has had to have dental work but as soon as we can we promise we will!!
