Mount Hua is a fantastic place to visit 🤩 The hike up is an incredible experience, especially in the sections with stairs carved into the rock. Overall, it's not really dangerous, there are just some physically challenging passages. You need to maintain your stamina (~5 hours of climbing not counting breaks). But you don't have to do the complete ascent - the majority of Chinese visitors (90% I would say, based on what I saw) reach the North Peak by cable car. This reduces the effort by a few hours, but it also takes away much of the charm of the experience 🙂 Would you have done the plank walk section?

Yes, this part was very impressive.
And I was lucky to do that part at sunset. It added something extra to the dramatic aspect of the plank walk.
