The question: “What’s going through your mind?” In reference to him sitting through an inauguration. His response was perfect. He no longer has to stress about the job that is the presidency. His terms are up and now he can reflect on the past 8 years and what got him to that moment. His response did not have to be about Trump.
I think 2 term-serving presidents have no reason to be bothered about their successors, whoever they might be and whether or not they're from the same party, and like you said, sitting through the inauguration whilst reflecting their accomplishments in the past 8 years is all they have to do. But not for Obama, knowing that Trump was set out to undo everything he's achieved.

Reading through the comments on this video, what is apparent is that President Obama DID tell Harry what was going through his mind; it simply wasn't what the people commenting wanted to hear. All they wanted was variations of "Orange Man Bad" or "OMG, They've just inaugurated the worst president ever" and that wasn't what President Obama gave them. Then he pivots to speaking about his wife and daughters and how proud of and grateful for them he is. Genuine class.
