I miss this president. I am a Republican. I may not agree with everything Obama said, but he always showed respect to everyone which made him well respected by everyone. This to me is what a president should be about. Trump is always calling people names and putting people down. I thought Trump would change, but I was wrong. I’m genuinely curious when I ask, what was the main motivation when you went to the ballot box knowing who he was in the past and who he was not? Faye Farahmand I’ve been watching most Trump press conferences lately because my father is sadly a Republican. I’m yet to see a reporter yell at him or get an attitude with him. I have, however, seen him call the reporters “fake news,” tell them to chill out for asking a question he couldn’t answer, and refusing to actually answer a question. Our current president has no poise or eloquence and our nation is becoming a joke to most of the world. I wasn’t a fan of Hillary either, but you can’t honestly believe Trump is half as decent of a human as Obama is. All I see out of the White House is hatred, slander and too many tweets that sound like an overly dramatic high schooler instead of that of one who holds the highest political position in our country. I’m not the biggest fan of Biden, either, but we need a level of class and respect back in the office that we currently do not have.

However, respect is sadly a hard thing to come by these days on both sides of the table. I believe once the name calling and personal attacks stop, then maybe something positive can happen in this country. That has to start at the top, though. He was the best president? That's funny, I seem to recall him causing the deaths of not only Americans, but others in foreign countries as well. Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan and don't even get me started on Lybia where his administration decided it was a good idea to abandon a US ambassador and his security detail while they were being killed in Benghazi. I also seem to remember him pulling troops out of Iraq after being warned the country was not ready to stand on its own two feet, creating a pocket and making room for ISIS to organize and not only take control of most of Iraq, but also become a global threat. I also seem to recall him negotiating with terrorists and releasing 4 high ranking members of ISIS in exchange for a single US troop that deserted his post. As a veteran I have been told many times that the US government will not, under any circumstances, negotiate with terrorists. I guess all of that goes out the window when you have a weak leader at the helm!

I remember him vilifying the Ferguson Police Department after that thug (Mike Brown) was shot by one of their officers before an investigation had even taken place. Obama, Al Sharpton and many others were speaking as if that officer had already been convicted! Do you remember what happened then? Riots, episodes of BLM gone wild, cops were being hunted in other states...but then all the sudden we find out the man really did try to take the officer's weapon, but too late! The media began showing every interaction between black men and cops they could get their hands on, race relations have never been the same. Oh and how about when Obama attended the memorial of the 5 or 6 police officers that we killed in Dallas during a peaceful demonstration, and instead of sticking to a memorial he took the opportunity to speak about police brutality and race relations? I think is meaningful that Obama's last moments on this impromptu press conference were spent talking about his family & his daughters. I already miss his thoughtfulness and intelligence. Faye Farahmand I’ve been watching most Trump press conferences lately because my father is sadly a Republican. I’m yet to see a reporter yell at him or get an attitude with him. I have, however, seen him call the reporters “fake news,” tell them to chill out for asking a question he couldn’t answer, and refusing to actually answer a question. Our current president has no poise or eloquence and our nation is becoming a joke to most of the world. I wasn’t a fan of Hillary either, but you can’t honestly believe Trump is half as decent of a human as Obama is. All I see out of the White House is hatred, slander and too many tweets that sound like an overly dramatic high schooler instead of that of one who holds the highest political position in our country. I’m not the biggest fan of Biden, either, but we need a level of class and respect back in the office that we currently do not have.

However, we also have a president who has attacked the media (except for Fox News) since before his campaign began. Fox had a field day dragging the Obamas through the mud for 8 years and The Republican Party was silent. Now that the tables have turned, it’s all of a sudden disrespectful and disgusting. Maybe if Trump would answer the questions he’s asked instead of tip toeing around it and calling those who ask “fake news” or other rude remarks, there would be more respect. I have full respect for the office of the president, but not necessarily for the person who’s sitting behind the desk. However, we can all show kindness regardless of beliefs, and that unfortunately won’t happen when we have a president who has made a name for himself based off of degrading behavior and name calling.
An intelligent president who can think, who can string a sentence together that we can understand, hold an audience, boy how I miss that!

He was the best president? That's funny, I seem to recall him causing the deaths of not only Americans, but others in foreign countries as well. Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan and don't even get me started on Lybia where his administration decided it was a good idea to abandon a US ambassador and his security detail while they were being killed in Benghazi. I also seem to remember him pulling troops out of Iraq after being warned the country was not ready to stand on its own two feet, creating a pocket and making room for ISIS to organize and not only take control of most of Iraq, but also become a global threat. I also seem to recall him negotiating with terrorists and releasing 4 high ranking members of ISIS in exchange for a single US troop that deserted his post. As a veteran I have been told many times that the US government will not, under any circumstances, negotiate with terrorists. I guess all of that goes out the window when you have a weak leader at the helm!
Oh damn, for a moment there I completely forgot what Obama managed to do to the social fabric of our own country! I remember him vilifying the Ferguson Police Department after that thug (Mike Brown) was shot by one of their officers before an investigation had even taken place. Obama, Al Sharpton and many others were speaking as if that officer had already been convicted! Do you remember what happened then? Riots, episodes of BLM gone wild, cops were being hunted in other states...but then all the sudden we find out the man really did try to take the officer's weapon, but too late! The media began showing every interaction between black men and cops they could get their hands on, race relations have never been the same. Oh and how about when Obama attended the memorial of the 5 or 6 police officers that we killed in Dallas during a peaceful demonstration, and instead of sticking to a memorial he took the opportunity to speak about police brutality and race relations? Absolutely disgusting, not the time or place for that!
