Best content no doubt ! But why don't you replace oil filter gasket ?
Always put 5% to more quantity of oli Whenever pouring oil from a container to measuring jar and then emptying it into the engine.
This is because
1) oil sticking to the container and jar wall will eatup some part of oil.
2) Air bubbles traped inside the oil while pouring makesup a noticeable volume in total quantity of oil.
Not Taking care of these two things is absolutely fine and it will never harm anything. But these points are associated with accuracy of quantity of oil.

Also add the quantity of oil absorbed by the dry oil filter to that list. A workshop manual will suggest to soak the oil filter in oil before installing.

I also tried this oil in my apache 160. And midrange acceleration and performance improved a lot above 80kmph. But at lower ends it felt bit slugish as its not recomonded grade. will try 10w40 next time.

I think you missed taking off another drain bolt brother. For dukes and Dominar , there will be two drain bolts. The another drain bolt can be seen after removing the bash plate

If this is the same engine as the KTM 390 then you forgot the oil strainer underneath the engine sump.

10W or 20W should not matter for hot riding conditions as the oil will attain optimum & temperature above that faster, so shall your viscosity. Hence my suggestion will be stick to 10w50 grade.

I have a problem with my Dominar, after After 6 months of use of my Dominar I had detected an issue, the bike smells a lot to fuel. I have checked sparks, fuel system or any leakage, but apparently the problem is that the ring on the fuel cap is wear. I have visited my bike dealership to claim guaranty and they said this is a problem caused because incorrect fueling method. What the fu#$? Do you happen to have the same problem? By the way congratulation for your videos, those are amazing.6 months of use I detected that the bike smeel to fuel execivelly

Did not face this issue and I did check the rubber ring on the fuel cap which seems to be fine. However I did find some thin presence of rust on the fuel tank neck.

Not necessarily. Change it in every alternate oil change , or change it if there is wear.

It's name is MAK 4T ScooTech Nxt available in 10W 30 grade this oil is available for both scooter &bike

10w40 is fine for RTR 200.
Motul 7100 uses group 5 Ester base while Shell advance ultra uses group 4 PAO base, you won't find much difference as both are fully synthetic oil base.
If you ride in the city then Motul 7100 will be my choice as it handles constant gear shifts better.

Bajaj recommends (in the manual) 1.2L i.e 1200ml engine oil for RS 200. The recommended grade is 20w50.
If you have already filled 1L then do a 200ml top up to bring the oil to the level.
Question. I bought my d400 last march 2018. I've already changed oil twice. first when i reached 500 odo and second when my odo was 1500. my odo is 3000 km now. is it okay if I change the oil now? Going forward, how often do i change oil? what's your recommended time/odo for regular oil change for d400? by the way I only use my bike every weekend ride.

These fully synthetic oils perform optimally till around 4000-4500km on the Dominar 400 (medium to heavy use). You can stretch it a bit more but it will lack the initial performance due to the drop in viscosity.
If I don't manage to cover KM then I usually change the oil at every 8-10 months.

I'm using total quartz racing 10 w 40 jaso m2 engine oil in my domimar... It is thinner than recommended grade but enhance the engine performance as most super sports bike use the same grade of engine oil tht is w 40.

it's ok since this dominar has liquid cooler, unlike aircooled Pulsar 180s (Rouser 180 in Philippines) we never know how safe that oil is. we just stick to sae50..

Hi, the engine & transmission uses the same oil (shares the same sump).
Don't use SAE 90 gear oil for Activa or Jupiter, use the same engine oil or other engine at max W50 grade.
The Sportztourer why we should not use sae90 grade oil in transmission of jupiter or activa? Meri youtuber Auto Exports recommend to use this oil in transmission
I had this same doubt for my Honda Aviator & nothing was meintioned about gear oil grade in the manual. Later confirmed it with Honda India about this as they cleared my doubt. This was further cleared to me when I went through the manual of TVS Jupiter where it is mentioned to use the same engine oil (TRU4 10W30) for the transmission (100ml for regular change).

switching to fully synthetic oil after 1st service is fine. If you don't have any long rides in plan then you can switch to synthetic after 2nd service.
Surprised to know dominar 400 uses only 1.5 oil, where as other 250-300 cc bikes use almost twice

You can change the preload but it will just help in increasing the sag & thus reduction in rear ride height (As the front forks on Dominar are not adjustable). As AXAI has mentioned you can get it done from service but the sag will also depend upon the rider's weight and the catch is you have to compromise on ride quality.

Bike was making weird noise after 2 km ride, gearbox was getting hard, when the engine was heated, it was uncomfortable revving the bike,
I was going to give the bike for repair,
but it seems the issue is solved now,
yesterday I rode my bike for 20kms,
and it ran as expected
You are still in run in period so these type niggles are common. Engine heating, false neutrals, chain noise, hard shifts are common in the break in period & they usually go away after the 2nd service 👍

Just going by the experience 7100 20w50 performs very well on the the 200NS even under heavy use 😊

Not at all necessary. Unless someone retains and stretches the oil drain intervals for too long a direct switch between two oils is perfectly fine 😊

Yes, you can definitely use 7100 20w50 in your Pulsar 150. Infact it is one of the best oils for Pulsar 150 if the use is heavy.

Hi I used 10w40 fully synthetic instead of 10w50. is it okay or is it bad for my d400? Will be very appreciative of your response.
On regular use 10w40 should work fine as it will be thin enough to lubricate the overall engine. Tighter tolerances in modern engines can work on a grade higher or lower (like you have done) without any problem.
I would still suggest you to stick to 10w50 recommended grade for your next oil change as it will be beneficial for heavy & high RPM use.

TVS Tru4 fully synthetic 10w30 is good for regular use. You can go for Shell Advance ultra 10w40 fully synthetic for long rides or heavy city use. Motul 7100 is equally good (recently used it on my Pune-Indore-Ujjain ride).

I need to change only the oil Filter. Do i need to drain the oil into a container and then remove the Filter? Or can I change the Filter with the oil still inside the engine (will the oil leak out?)?
The Dominar has a separate oil filter chamber but still some oil will definitely come out.
How old is your oil? How much km done on this oil?
I forgot to mention this, I have RTR 200. I have around 200ml of extra oil kept aside for top up. Do I perform it without draining all the oil? I've finished 1500 kms (in 3 months as I didn't use it for a while) since last oil and oil Filter change.

My suggestion will be no need to change the oil filter now. Even with TVS TRU4 fully synthetic oil, the oil & filter condition will fine after 1500km. Directly go for an Oil & oil filter change during your need service.
