all you need to do is get you some Thompson water sealant in a can apply a couple coating and you should be good. Did that with my skar TX- 6x9, and the have lasted !!!
The zt69 is water resistant
Ds18 usually pushes or requires more power and a little tweaking on the EQ. You can see it hitting higher decibels on the reader. They sound great when tuned
Yes, DS18 must be tuned because it is a midrange designed to work coupled with woofer/sub below 80hz thus increasing the bass; and when the bass increases you have to balance the highs too.
@glubrix so what is the best crossover frequency for the zt69s. I'm planning on getting 4 of them with a ds18 amp. I'm guessing 170hz.

Ds18 sounds crisper less bass, the pioneer sounds less crisp but with more bass imo.

Pioneer pros all day baby!!! As 6x9's go at this price range can't get better. Yeah they are hard to fit but it don't matter, the pioneer when amped is inhuman .
I have them in my car and they have no bass..I am thinking of getting a small subwoofer..Too much tweeter and no bass. I also have a good amplifier.I am disappointed.
@@thekgi1349 you have done something wrong then. I've installed these in almost every vehicle I've owned in the last 12 years and drove them off the deck with impressive results. You won't rattle the trunk with these as they are meant to be used as mid bass and highs. These things belt out guitar and snare like nothing else. If you listen to EDM these make all the middle frequency better. Using these as bass drivers can be done but don't expect them to act like a actual sub bass driver.
I have had them for about two days not. I installed Pioneer pro 6.5 inch at the front and 6by 9 back. Yesterday they sounded much better but I was advised to change my factory radio and I will do that soon. I was expecting the dame bass as U heard in my friends fathers car..he installed pioneer 5 way at the rear and I tell you the bass is much better than on my pioneer pro 6by 9 even though I paid more than double for the speakers.

@@thekgi1349 I rsn pioneer pro ts-m650pro for a while but they weren't that great after a while I noticed they weren't loud enough for my liking or sounded like wow I swapped them out for another brand and it was night and day difference. The ts-m650 is meant to be a midbass speaker but just like you said the midbass was lacking a decent amount. I've always ran my mids along with subs so it's never really need a big problem for me.
Honestly, these speakers are designed for infinite baffle, meaning no real enclosure with only a wall between the front and rear of said speaker. That said the pioneer sounds better. the DS18 sounds too tinny
Those DS18 need power and they sound great. I'm running 500 w RMS to each one on my motorcycle and they are loud and clear and have a nice stump to them.

If your trying to play it loud make sure to turn the bass all the way down on the ds18 6x9, only use the mids & highs, the bass just kills it.. I run the same ds18 6x9 with ds18 super tweeters maxed out with a 15” sub & it screams, you can hear my car from a few blocks away
After rewatching your videos again and paying close attention it sounds like distortion when you get to 80/85% volume on your phone so that’s why you blow these speakers tbh😂 try to run it off a head unit and a really good aftermarket amp to reallly hear these things talk💯😂

Ds18 is brighter. The CV soinds closed in but better balanced. DS18; if uou have a strong subwoofer to back it up

The ds18 seems to hit higher frequencies and the pinoeer hits lower frequencies then the ds18 that’s why the bass hits a little harder
Great video but since you didn’t remove the bass from the music I don’t think we get the real voice out of it.
would definately need a tweet with pioneer as its missing alot up high. good for my truck as it has 3 3.5" speakers in the dash and additional 2 tiny tweets on A pilars from factory.
CV has a Lower frequency response so of course it will sound better by itself
Pioneer has more clarity and quality. Ds18 is high pitched
Music from TH-cam has a lot of distortion in it. I've looked at tracks in Adobe Audition and a majority of the songs have high levels of distortion added to it. That distortion is sending a clipped signal through your amp which is causing some speakers coils to burn up.

What most ppl commenting here dont realize is that the Pioneers rms rating is about a 100-125rms where the DS18 want atleast 200rms (250rms max) when both are powered by a 150rms clean the DS18 will crush the Pioneers all day way higher sensitivity on the DS18 the tweeter on the DS18 is crispier bass is clean and tight and responsive the pioneers are a lil looser and sloppy sounding the pioneer tweets sound muffled in comparrison ive owned both n had real power to them both same with the 6.5" DS18 was louder

I just got one pair of the Pioneer TS-6900 Pros for my Harley saddlebag lids. Going to order one more pair for the dual 6x9 lids i ordered. Can’t wait to power them up!

@@derrellrodriguez6340 yes! You have to install them from the under side of the speaker bracket with some machine screws. They won’t drop in. They are heavy, so you need some very durable bolts and screws.

@@363Rooster i can send you a pic with your email tomorrow? These 6x9’s are highly underrated! These things bang with a good powered amp. They have huge magnets so forget about trying to drop them into the bracket normally. Get some good machine screws from hardware store. You will have to attach them from underneath the speaker bracket. Again, the machine screws must be very durable because these things are built like tanks! Super loud and clear at Highway speeds.

If your 6.5 or 6x9 is "PRO AUDIO" that means it will play the MIDRANGE frequencies louder than a normal 6.5 or 6x9s. The trade off is little to no bass.

Both sound off to me. Left is tinny rather than detailed. Right sound muffled, like you left a jacket on the rear shelf.

Can you compare the pioneer pro 6x9 vs the pioneer pro 8". I heard they are the same cone sqin and should be the same. But want to see how close 6x9 is to 8" in the same model/brand.

I agree 100% nice tuning mid and high rang sound amazing pair with tweeters and subs for bass and run a capacitor with epicenter clean up all the music frequencies! Im thinking of running ds18 and Orion in combination but run the Orion in a separate amplifier just to hit all the ranges and a single 10” sub with epicenter and tune all the speakers to correct ohm and hertz. In my Honda I’m running 4 6x9s and 4 6.5 door speakers all kicker with 4 infinity tweeters and a 2000 watt amp & sub. But it’s all tuned in and not just bass covering bad sound from crap speakers.

I would get a headache after a while listening to the ds18 it sounds louder but it's just more high pitched.
Get you some subwoofers..an stop depending on 6x9's to complete a whole sound system..theyre jus apart of the sound system as a whole.. Oh my bad you haven't built a sound system from ground up

Mike you are doing the same error like another your video: Pioneer si 4ohm fullrange 29/40Khz crossover 40Hz. While DS18 is declared as midrange use: 4ohm 60/22Khz -crossover 80hz.
They are all 2 good: the choice between one and the other depends on what you are going to assemble.

the average of the ds18 was way higher, pioneer only got lucky for a millisecond but its average DB rating was a good 3 db lower all the time.
Ds 18 better it can handle more and sound even better eq'd

Neither of those would smell with proper voltage on the amplifier, 100hz hpf and a proper gain setting bro. Those are not meant to play too low, no less than 80-100hz

with all the respect Sir, how about put the rms voltage that they claim to handle nothing more nothing less? All your videos you not stating the voltage that you are using, you should set amps accordingly to what the speaker cam handle its simple as that, then do the test Sir. Try to make it a little bit more professional then just run random volumes at them. That isn't how speakers are used out there 🤝🏼

Not exactly comparing apples to apples here. The speakers need to be tuned differently to get a similar sound. The DS18 sounds great out of the Box and hits high notes relatively easy. The fact that the Pioneer isn't as loud in some frequency shows it takes more power and some tuning to get a siund your happy with

It would have been nice to see tou lock the DB reading from one speaker to the next so we could easily see the one with the highest DB. So from one to the next both starting from a point in the song. I just think it would have been a much more clear comparison to which 1 is truly louder because of all the bouncing around made it so hard to keep track of what... Are you familiar with sundown audio speakers
Heard them but never test them what you think about sundown audio?
Sundown is for compition. They sound like garbage. They are for low bass. Basically flopping air! They make a couple music subs but there are ones for cheaper that are better. A lot of people new to systems watch TH-cam and see everyone using sundown so they run out and buy one for every day use and there not happy because they just flop air around. Now they are the lowest hitting sub. But if you're wanting to ride around beating on music there is much better. Like Rockford fosgate power series, JL audio w7, the Orian are more towards the low side but sounds pretty good. The mtx 9500 sounds amazing, the solobarics l7 and soloy× they are one of the loudest in volume and they hit! Hard as hell but they don't get really low.
@@danielbeavers8701 daniel beavers doesnt know wtf he is talking about.. sundown is top level at what they do... car audio and p.a. audio is an entirely different entity... at least where i come from.... hooking up 27 p.a. speakers to full range amps, like a giant party speaker, isnt what sundown is doing.... if thats what you are looking for, cool.. sundown is still for you.. along with your 27 p.a. speakers, add a sundown 15 to supplement the 20 30 hz region... proper box building will make that sundown create a nice smooth earthquake.... im not even a sundown guy, because their subs do not "hit the lowest"... i like lower.... im a skar guy for subs... they hit lower, for a third of the price.. 3 skars to one sundown is no comparison...
