Really it's an amazing video......It's help alot to understand the structure of an atom.....Continue this work ...inshaallah u people will soon be the most popular channel of youtube....highly recommended....this channel for studies
For those who are also learning the Schrodinger model of the atom, the concept of 'orbitals' is not the same as 'orbits'. The two terms are very similar but refer to different things and are developed from two completely different models.
@@laralola24 Hi Lara. From what I understand from my old chemistry professor, orbits are certain fixed and defined paths around which a particle travels around. Planets orbit, because they are on fixed, defined paths. Orbitals are for electrons, since if electrons orbited they would lose energy and crash into the nucleus of the atom. To evade that constraint, it was thought that electrons behaved as waves, rather, and orbit parts of ana tom in probable electron densities, or where you are likely to find the electron 90 percent of the time. So, based on energy levels, these shapes of electron densities are where the electrons are likely to be. That's probably the shortest explanation, if you take physical chemistry, it gets way crazier. Cheers!
@@henryelicker2403 Why was it thought that the electrons would crash into the nucleus? Is it because of the extremely small size of an atom? Is there an amount of energy that would be the limit for an electron to crash into the nucleus?
Postulates 1. Only certain special orbits called discrete orbits of electrons are allowed inside the atom 2. While revolving in these discrete orbits, the electrons do not raidate energy

Well as being a student of Class 8 this is really helpful for me and made the topic more clear and I got a clear understanding of the topic. Thank You for being so clear !! 😄🙌✨
The video is really great. Only the last questions asked should contain the term 'orbit' instead of Orbitals as d concept of Orbital was not known in Bohr's atomic model.
Finally This is an educational video which made me to get more interested. An animation video is actually more better than other videos shown on boards papers or one note
Hi, We're working on the chapter structure of Atoms, and it will be uploaded on the website by the end of next week. The topic you requested will be covered in this chapter. Happy Learning :)
*** This is not the video for you 😅. And here's why: Concepts are not clearly explained. In what form do electrons lose energy? (EM-wave) This point must be highlighted, so that later, the student can grasp a strong concept of quantized energy of electrons (to explain atomic sepctra in Bhor's model). Moreover, labelling the paths taken as 'orbitals' instead of 'orbits' is completely wrong. Also mention drawbacks of the model: 1) Effects of Magnetic and Electric fields 2) Elliptic orbits 3) No considerations for wave-particle duality of particles and uncertainty principle 4) Electrons are arranged in a 2D plane *** Other points to be highlighted 1) Energy is constant for an electron in a particular orbit, thus its velocity doesn't change and neither energy is gained or lost. Therefore, the electrons do not emit electromagnetic radiations. 2) Continuous atomic spectra and not lines if the quantization of energy doesn't exist. 3) Graphs visualising this quantization concept, etc, etc. *** Salient features of Bohrs model 1) Quantized energy of an electron 2) Calculation of energy, speed of electrons 3) Calculation of radius of atom 4) Fixing flaws of nuclear model by RFord 5) Bases on Planck quantum theory 6) Explained Major lines of Hydrogen spectrum prominently, etc, etc.
Just a simple concept of Electromagnetic Wave Theory can unlock every detail of Bhor's model. And I did find an excellent video for it. Just Search 'Origin of Electro-Magnetic Wave' 😊

I have a question...for Hydrogen atom ..we know there is only 1s orbital...so when energy is supplied..electron moves to another higher orbital which doesn't exist for hydrogen(i.e.2s)...but we get of the hydrogen spectrum as different lines(Balmer,Paschen etc)...so where does the electron go actually for hydrogen atom when energy is supplied to it?
