I’m a guitar collector and I can tell you Vintage Gretsch guitars are terrible. People think because something is old it’s somehow magical. Gretsch guitars are built much better today than they have ever been. Especially if you get a Japanese one. But the new Chinese ones are pretty good as well. CNC machines and more modern Quality Control processes have made the end product much better. But a new USA 🇺🇸 Custom Shop Gretsch is definitely the cream of the crop. I wouldn’t even bother with an actual vintage Gretsch. If you want the best playing and sounding Gretsch the Custom Shop is king.🤴
Yep - I had 2 mid '50's Gretsch Duo Jets. Sounded nice, but complete pigs to play and gig compared to what Gretsch offer now - especially the vintage select guitars. I now have a vintage select '55 6120 that is faultless. Also had a mid 50's Telecaster that was nice, but not thousands of dollars nice. As a player, I have no interest in using vintage gear again, I'll just stick to Historic and Custom Shop instruments.
@@SirTwangabangalot Same here. I've played some very nice vintage Gibsons and Fenders in my lifetime, but I'm just as happy with my reissues. I know some guys can feel and hear the difference, but I'm not one of them. To me, once you get past the rush of holding something old and expensive in your hands, there's not that much left to justify the price tag. Truthfully, the extra 5% "magic" you get with a (good) golden era instrument is lost on me since I'm not a good enough player to coax it out anyway 🤣

Thank you for saying what many of us are thinking! Vintage Gretsch is… inconsistent at best. The new stuff is much better overall.

THIS old man believes it is!!!
Nice guitar. Look forward to the tone demo.
You're in for a treat!
So wait a real one is $15,000 and this one is $12,000.
What would be the point of a reissue regardless how well it’s made?
Very reasonably priced at $12,000.
