//Part 7 of 10// When I talked to a rep at the EDD the other day she said something that I keep telling my clients: “This is your money. We want you to get paid.”
This is so different from everything we’ve been taught to believe about how the government handles money and it reminded me there are real people who work at the EDD and they aren’t monsters. They’re just trying to do their job with the limited resources they’re given.
I digress…the point is they don’t want to deny your claim. It’s probably easier for them to approve it but rules are rules, especially when it comes to the government.
So if you filled something out incorrectly or filed your claim after the deadline, you’re likely to be denied. But this doesn’t mean it’s the end of the line!
Appeal! Tell them why the mistake happened and you’ll likely be approved. Advocate for yourself! This is your money!
