it will be trash, i know it will
@@dibberz-v1z yeah. Ugh I really dont want another duke game, ever. His time has looooooong passed.
@@dibberz-v1z Eh, I wouldn't be so judgemental right out of the gates. Ion Fury was good.
"I want all of it, right now, and I will pay any price for it."
That perfectly summed up my thoughts on Cultic as well
Seriously, best episode yet. So many things you mentioned I was actually discussing with a friend myself. I hope the channel will survive the fall of retro fps games xD!
the eyes in Cultic just dropping to the floor is spectacular
I mean, that coat is awesome.
Also holy fuck that Australian game trailer was cringe.
took the words out of my mouth, I saw that trailer and immediately skipped the game but now after watching Civvie play the game I’m gonna go back and give it a chance. Whoever made that trailer needs to be fired.
Got about one minute into that segment of the video before I realized there was a timecode, then I skipped on to the next game. "Pisties?" Seriously?
Shokingly bad, tbh not feeling any of these "neo"retroshooters At all, even roll my eyes wen they introduce cultists for the bilionth time,Just enought already
Dakadakdakadaka. What does that even mean ?
@@Gatorade69 it's a warhammer 40k reference.
Orks say guns go dakka dakka, and the faster and more they shoot, the more dakka you have.
The plot twist is THERE IS NEVAH ENUFF DAKKA!
But Civvie, Neil Patrick Harris IS wearing an awesome coat in Starship Troopers.
Archivement unlocked: "THIS IS SPARTA". Nice touch
We love all the work you do for us, Civvie.
Love your channel Civvie! Been catching up watching all your content. Keep up the good work man!
I was hoping to see ENCHAIN here, I played pretty much all the demos of Realms Deep and found the movement and chain system of this one really satisfying.
Is it? Cuz it looked from the trailer like 1: great idea 2: *awful* execution.
@@kungfuskull I played through the whole demo and it felt really good to me. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but before you know it you're grappling around everywhere and using enemies as surfboards (literally). I'd put it right next to Ultrakill as another FPS with a ton of fun ideas.
@@kveller555 huh. Noted 🤔
The coat joke made me laugh far harder than it should have
I was in no way prepared for that deep, meaty firing sound on the SMGs in Dread Templar. It sounds like they're chambered in fuckin .50 AE it's SO GOOD.
Also I'd like to point out that White Hell's OST is made by Hakita.
Yes, that Hakita.
who's Hakita
@@CallN0w Ultrakill dev
I am so proud of my country
That boot parkour tutorial reminds me of that pit you can get stuck in in Super Metroid where you either have to figure out how to do the weird wall jump in that game; it didn't give very good instructions, but it does seem to work better.
Just seeing the combat in dread Templar had me thinking" "yep, this is a quake successor I could learn to love."
These roundups are the best. So many great looking games I would have no earthly idea bout. Thank you, siR!
Please do the new Quake episode Dimension of the Machine next. It's really excellent
Oooo, yeah! Love to see that
I knew it was going to be a good day today, Friday, had a sub for lunch, now a Civvie video
I'm so stoked for Selaco big-time! And basically 20 other fps games
Selaco looks GREAT I'm quite excited for it.
It is really nice that you gave those games spotlight. Dread Templar and White Hell are a lot of fun.
I hope to see new Hedon game featured next.
I love the retro shooters coming out.
Same way as "pixel" art is a thing - those blocky models and vague attempts at round objects are so good! I love, love, love that more and more "oldschool" shooters pop up!
...when they're done well, you mean :P
Just watched the very last unseen video of yours and now this comes up just right in time!
Thank you, Civvie 11
We'll remember this as the Retro FPS Bubble of 2021
Civvie repeatedly kicking the flat surface instead of the angular one to boost himself up is up there with DSP clip where he is trying to navigate pipe jumps in Black Mesa.
I hope you cover more of these rd2021 games they deserve it!
Hear hear 🍻 many more gems were discovered that wonderful weekend!
Imagine Civvie covering Brutal Fate
@@zakazany1945 we can only hope! hedon next!
I find it funny how right after Civvie ads a sewer count I cut to a ad about electing a new party down here in Australia, what perfect placement
ah.. Civvie, your "tired boomer" energy gives me life.
SEWER COUNT LIVES !!!
COUNT SEWER BACK FROM THE DEAD BABY YEAH !
Neil Patrick Harris' coat was pretty slick tho
Cultic was wonderful. Loved how it's obviously inspired by Blood, while also doing it's own thing. It actual gets creepy when you get in the room with all the hanging bodies. Extremely excited to see where he goes with this!
"Does this sewer count?"
I love it. That was perfect. XD
NPH did have a cool coat in Starship Troopers. 👍
extremely glad to hear the upgrades in dread templar are useful now, my main complaint with the previous demo was that all of them were shit like +5% melee damage or +10% resistance against explosives
His coat was awesome
I mean, Neil Patrick Harris had a awesome coat.
Just because baddies wore it, doesnt mean it doesnt look good.
On a road trip with headphones in, 11:48 comes on; I didn't even need to hear civvie talk to recognize what was on, hell yeah!!!!
Apparently Kur decided to take how suspicious PTMC was acting to Material defender in Descent and ratchet it to 11.
Cool, thanks for the quick reviews Civvie, now I know what to look out for and I know what to get for a new challenge!
Civvie, you were right bout that Quake vid from the previous time-line. Some of the enemies are bastards.
Also, what are your thoughts on doing SCP Containment Breach? I know, very odd request, but consider it a penny for your thoughts, I guess.
I would love SCP: CB video, one of the spookiest games. It's a bitch to run on a modern os with high refresh monitor tho
@@inertia_dagger I heard that after the devs finish doing the MTF mod, which is gonna be a full-on standalone expansion, proper game, they’re gonna move Containment Breach to a new engine for v1.4
@@st.paddymad7085 big if true
@@inertia_dagger the old UnderTow forums are also retired, so finding news might be a bit awkward, but still, there's more Containment Breach in the near-ish future.
Also, my laptop's able to run Containment Breach, so my sympathies to those who aren't able to play it. Sorry if it sounds like I'm tryna flex or gloat. Blitz3D is not a stable engine, but I think Ultimate Edition might be more stable, try that.
God civvie is so good. Like just a TH-camr working a niche that appeals to anyone who just wants to break in to boomer shooters and to veterans of the games
Still waiting on Star Trek: Elite Force 1 & 2.
We want it Civvie! 🖖
There was a second game?
@@ChaosPootato Oh yes, and it even had voice overs by Patrick Stewart!
I head that some classic Star Trek games are coming soon to GOG. Source - GameFront
@@SpecShadow The second one was on there for a long time. I'd love to see them brought back. Even just a version compatible with modern PCs.
I still have my CD copy of the first one somewhere... I replay it from time to time, it's a fun game
Once again another great and informative video. Love when you do these multi game mash ups. Make videos on what you want and fuck the nerds that want you to do other or certain games. You clearly know what your doing and I'm glad to find out about new and different games. That's what brought me to this channel in the first place.
Thanks civvie
20:03 those are mac-11's, not UZI's. or some version of the MAC platform. also the firerate sounds too low but isn't inaccurate based on the ammo counter.
I am so glad I am not the only one who noticed this.

@@expendableround6186 i don't see a manufacturer or caliber marking and i'm assuming there isn't any in the game since civvie called them uzis
are they in .380? where does it say? are you just puppeting what other commenters have said?
Don't worry Civvie, I'm sure the Sewer Count joke made that dev very, very happy
Cultic looks like it'll be a worthy pickup. Ion maidens' aftershock being omitted from RD sucks.
What happened with ion maiden?
@@RolandTemplarthe expansion was quietly delayed to next year and just... left out of the show

Yo Civvie, thanks for that "Sisu" reference! Helped me out with a work thing I had to do.
This is turning out be a great day with a new vid from my favorite inmate. Also wanted to share if anyone wants to get a console pleb copy of Dusk to head over to Limited Run games. The preorder for the Sony trash can and the Switch versions is now available.
Civvie: exists
White Hell Dev: I'm about to resurrect this man's *sewer count*
Love the content. You doing Return to Castle Wolfenstein down the road at some point?
Good luck with future endeavors.
As an Australian it warms my heart to have Civvie attempt to try our accent. Not mad one bit keep the great work coming :D #freecivvie
Problem I have with many of these new retro shooters is that the Doom, Quake, and Build modding communities have all created so many visually impressive and mechanically complex works that play and look much better than lot of this early access stuff.
Shame about the 3DR buy out, not thrilled by the continued consolidation of all games studios under just a few companies.
Because it is far easier to make your own work than make it in a pre-existing engine with limitations. That doesn't necessarily mean it's better and limitations do encourage creativity, but it is what it is.
I had a lot of fun with the Cultic demo, really nice weapons, good atmosphere, the difficulty level called “hard” felt pretty good to me. You can definitely get completely perforated if you’re caught unaware.
I look forward to trying out the rest of this stuff
