  • In a 150km round day trip, we take the Stabicraft 1450 Explorer offshore targeting Southern Bluefin Tuna. As the day goes on, it just gets better and better. We landed 9 ranging from 16-25kg all casting on light spin gear. The Stabicraft 1450 was superb carrying 3 blokes and gear way offshore with ease. Shows how capable these boats are.
This Stabicraft has been set up courtesy of Deegan Marine in Ulverstone Tasmania. Great products and great service, check those guys out in the link below!

just got one of these boats but havnt thrown a motor on yet. thinking about the tohatsu 30d, ur thoughts on running a 30 instead of a 40

It depends on how you intend to use the boat. For the trip we did in this video with 3 people and gear with the long distance, the 40 did the job but any less would not be ideal. The 30 would plenty for 2 people, shorter trips and would also keep the weight off the transom, but when you start adding more load and distance onto trips you’d find a bigger engine would cope much better and do it a lot easier. I’ve seen these boats with upto 70hp four strokes so they can handle them quite easily. 30hp may save you some costs to buy and may be the best option if that’s all you require but id be going 40-50 for how I use the boat in my videos! Everyone’s needs are different 👍 cheers

Howdy. Just off the north coast of Tasmania. We rarely get tuna up this way so we had to go far out to find them 👍
