On this day in 1963 {December 28th} "The Son of Rebel Rouser" by Duane Eddy entered the Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart for a two week stay, peaking at #97... Five years earlier on June 24th, 1958 Duane Eddy's original "Rebel Rouser" entered the Top 100; eventually it peaked at #6 and stay on the Top 100 for 14 weeks... Between 1958 and 1963 he had twenty-seven records make the Top 100; with three reaching the Top 10 {his biggest hit was "Because They're Young", it peaked at #4 in 1960}...
Happy 60th to this video! As the 30th of this month of May hits 60 years since this footage was filmed. And even though today right now as of 1:30 PM and now it’s May 31st. It pretty much recently hit 60 years old of that date few hours ago from 1959.
One of my favourite American performers. I bought this record when it was released here in the UK. It reached the top 10 in the singles chart at the time.
I am glad everyone enjoyed it. I posted it because I wanted to pick up all those spirits that might have been a little down this winter, like mine. Carole anne
sax man: you is not clapping on the beat, and then you is forgetting to come in on the sax at 00:52. And that, baby, is rock'n'roll television at its best. I love you NRRA.
I think it is more of a video/audio delay...the song started at a long distance, so it's hard to determine the actual synchronicity of the audio vs video...
not sure why some diminish these performances because they were not "live"....Bandstand was working with a tight budget these early years...It is common knowledge that acts in those days were syncing....
The story I heard as to why Dick Clark's prime-time show went to Binghamton, New York that week was because the program was finally being broadcast in that city after a huge letter-writing campaign by the people of that city to the local ABC television station to convince them to pick-up the show. Clark apparently decided that the first episode broadcast to Binghamton should also originate there. I suspect that since this was shot in daylight, and the show was in prime-time (but I think it aired at 7:30 P.M. Eastern time), it's possible that this show was actually taped a couple of hours prior to broadcast when the sun was still bright.
Yes, I can... Duane Eddy thought and said a lot all at once... Duane said, "Holy Mackell... These IFIC kids in Binghamton are so cool!! Just think someday some asshole sounds from THE TWILIGHT ZONE (A VERY popular show back then, folks) OF STUPIDITY will ruin all good music... They will probably call it hip hop or rap and STUPID people will listen to it and buy it out right. How stupid can people be?"... That's what I heard Duane Eddy say.
...and in a '59 Caddy!!! This is truly perfection!!!!
Must've been great to be a teenager on May 30th, 1959. Seeing them live; something us nowadays will never get to do.
This isn’t live
@@jennycraigadventures3314 Perhaps me 4 years ago should've phrased this differently. Seen them in person.
Back when American cars could hold a Rock n Roll band......
Now that, folks, is an entrance!
Rock on, gentlemen.
Thanx for the music, magic, and memories.
now that's what I call an entrance. I remember seeing this on a Dick Clark summer show in the early 70s and I was happy to find it on here.
Some awesome musicians in the back seat.. mr Al Casey and Jim Horn !

I saw him at the Liverpool Empire in 1960. He opened with this, when the drums came in the crowd went wild.

I don't know if anyone else agrees, but this song sounds TEXAS!!!!

Kool Gold....KOFY 1050...(San Francisco)
B eautiful...
When American cars were big and bold and you could put a whole band in them. Great days those were.
Another off the wall presentation. The sax player must have been daydreaming he missed his cue at the beginning.
Looks more like video/audio delay...remember your physics-light travels faster than sound...
Génial 👍
Funny, saxophone was the lead guitar back in the day.
Style!
The grandpapas rocks.
You may be cool, but you’ll never be Duane Eddy pulling up in a 59 Caddy cool.
What about the ramons on the cadillac
So many babes.
Rockabilly at its finest
Sax player missed the first riff
L Dean Richards he certainly did . Must have been daydreaming.
JIMMY PATTERSON no, that’s how the original went.
@@reeceblinman7469 No they’re faking it to the record he forgot to fake it.
That shit bangs!!!!🎉
riff raff
So I'm guessing the amps are in the trunk and they plugged it into the battery? :-)
I'm thinking the same
They're syncing to the track. If you look the sax player misses the first few notes when it comes in at the start, too busy clapping!
Flashman ....pretty sure that was a joke 😉
@@honey_bee65 💯 serious! 😂
Someone forgot to fill the sax player in on when to act like hes playing....lol
That's what I'm talking about I've been reading the comments and you're one of the only one that noticed it the modern-day Milli Vanilli
What does NRRA stand for?
Whole Lotta gum chewing.
@50 sax player realizes oh shit were lip synching
How did he achieve that sound?
Playing close to the bridge with lots of bends and a lovely gretcsh
Can anyone lip read what's being said at 1:21 ?

1959? Looks like they're in a1960 Cadillac
It;s hard to see the fins -- MIGHT actually be a 59 - not sure
+Azar Attura It's a '59...
+Alan Jankowski yep-- just saw the special bump on the rear fins
59 60 who gives a rats ass?
Its was the USA.
Однако.
That's has to be embarrassing they're not even really playing their instruments and the crowd knows it old school Milli Vanilli
