Khan Bahadur Khan Rohilla (1823 - 24 February 1860) was the grandson of Hafiz Rahmat Khan, who was the Nawab of Rohilkhand in Uttar Pradesh. He formed his own government in Bareilly in the 1857 Indian revolt against the Company rule. During the Indian Rebellion of 1857, Bareilly, too, was captured by the British. Rohilla escaped to Nepal where the Nepal army captured him and turned him over to the British. Khan Bahadur Khan Rohilla was tried, sentenced to death, and hanged in the Kotwali (Police Station) on 24 February 1860

British writer and explorer Captain F.V. Raper (of the 10th Bengal) has written an eye-witness account of it in the Asiatic Researches (vol. xi.):[18]
At the foot of the pass leading from Har Ki Pauri is a Gurkhali 'chauki' or post, to which slaves are brought down from the hills and exposed for sale. Many hundreds of these poor wretches, of both sexes, from three to thirty years of age, are annually disposed of in the way of traffic. These slaves are brought down from all parts of the interior of the hills, and sold at Haridwar at from 10 to 150 rupees.
