Wow, what nostalgia, what memories.. Looking at that catalogue It's 1969 and I'm 12 again. I built so many of those kits particularly 1:72 2nd World War aircraft..... I'm now almost 66 and I still love and build Airfix kits...It's amazing, Airfix has been part of my life's journey for over 50 years..
At the time, not always the best kits but always the most inspiring art work. Many thanks, very nostalgic for me. I was modeling from about 1973-80 and then my wife got me back into it in 2001 as a way for me to 'take the edge off' and I haven't stopped. Although the hobby probably isn't as big these days, as a 1/72 or 1/76 modeler it has never been better.
Like seeing a childhood friend for the first time in 45 years. Wonderful to see this. I'm trying to get hold of the old catalogues. I have the 78 & 79 editions. The first I ever had as a kid was the 76 edition. The last was 81 I think. By that time other hobbies were taking over. Glorious, carefree days.
Yep. My catalogue fell apart as well it was so well thumbed through! It's nice to look again through an old friend of a book that I haven't seen for over forty years!
There was not much to buy where I lived in the 50s and it was expensive and in the early 60s I was in boarding school where there was no room for that kind of activity but I had the catalogs and the dreams :-)
Brings back many great memories thank you for posting

Thank you for making this video, I saw many old friends in it that I built when I was younger.
Yes it's fun to revisit old catalogs and incredibly as much as you can remember from that time 40-50 years ago
@@catalogues4741 I never had the catalogues myself, but there were 3 good model shops within walking distance of my home.
