I also felt like the song wasn’t a representation of the group, but rather a concept. BTS seemed to be embodying the minds of boys who discovered girls for the very first time. It’s very awkward, reckless, obsessive, and raw. The realness of the song was super refreshing despite its questionable lyrics.

Exactly! I've always genuinely like War of Hormone as a song. I don't know any other songs that teenage me could relate to in that aspect. Who else talked about that? You know, the all bark, no bite thing. Where you sorta _do_ fixate on people and their bodies and too many thoughts, but you would _never_ actually _do_ any thing about those thoughts. I just don't know any other songs that genuinely talk about that havoc hormones rage on teens like that, without being all out skeezy. This feels like it was _written_ by teens, going through that, cuz there's also an element of self-awareness and teenage irony. They're basically the _baddest_ underage biker gang you'll find. Personally I thought Boy in Luv--Danger was always more problematic than War of Hormone... But in the end, they've grown from both

i personally think woh is a bop, if you look at it from the perspective of it being a bit more exaggerated, a bit more immature. it truly was a turning point for the boys, i think, because after the backlash they received for some of the misogynistic lyrics they made sure to never do it again. same goes for the video content. they really took the criticism and made themselves better. and in the six years since it's release....they've not done anything even remotely close to 'controversial' in their music again. just pure bops.
