  • riding a scooter in Naples, Italy. For me it was extremely funny, but most of you might think its chaotic and very dangerous.

Went to visit Napoli a few years back and I completely get this. Learned how to cross the road, march forcefully ahead and traffic lets you go, stand at the kerb and you'll be there all day. Saw five people on a Vespa, parents and three children, normal. DNA test revealed I'm 7.5% Italian, so proud of that. Love the country, the people, the language, the food, music. This is how you ride there. It works! Love from the UK.

If I drove just 1/2 a day in Naples I would be a nervous wreck, and completely stressed out.

No you would get used to it. The first time I was in this kind of situation Iwas nervous (what you see here is just standard driving in southern Europe), but then it's ok.

I was equally nervous the first few days. Drove in Pompeii, Amalfi and Naples. It gets a little crazy at first but then you notice that Italians just don't care.
The only thing is make sure if you have a rental to not leave it parked outside. Italians do not care if there car is scratched or broken so make sure it's protected

I am Italian from Milan, living in Bangkok for 10 years, I learned to drive motorbike here.
Can someone help me figure it out what is wrong in the video? I am serious.
I guess I am in Asia for too long, have you ever tried to drive a motorbike in Saigon?

It is messy from a western point of view, I see what you mean because I went all over Asia and lived in KL for a while.
You will not believe how boring is driving in Frankfurt or in California..

At least if they crash, they only injure themselves, their bike and the other vehicle. These drivers are reckless on the tight 15 foot wide streets in the Spanish District. Try eating lunch outside of a restaurant, with scooters, bikes and cars speeding by only 3 feet from your table. Totally unnerving to say the least.
