You are a young dude who gets it. I'm a big fan of Larry Bird, but it still amazes me how his popularity keeps growing with each passing year. The guy's play on the court was futuristic and still inspires and impacts players of today. Great reaction as always bro.

Jordan said Bird didn't have a weakness! He puts Bird in his Top 3! He has a lot of respect for Bird...maybe because he's the Only one he never could beat! Lol.

Not to mention Bird did it during 1 of the most physical times in basketball! whereas Steph curry and the others do not play in that type of league!

I Hate the New England Patriots, I'm from Dayton Ohio but I knew that Larry Bird was a Great Player. I was 16 years old when he entered the League. I really enjoyed the Boston Celtics and Larry Bird just because he was a Team Player and he always tried to get Everyone on the Team involved in the Game. G.O.A.T. Larry F****** Bird the Legend.

The reason I like your reactions is that you respect the players of the past. I can't understand why so many people want to discount the great players that built the NBA.

I had to come here as a Boston Celtics fan since 1958 and saw some of the greats, including Larry Bird, Larry was a small forward he was not a point guard!!
He was the consummate basketball player with excellent skills all the way around who was the leader who made everybody else around him better! He should be top five of all time, not for his position, but for his basketball IQ and skills, and made everybody else better.

He, himself, said he played rough. He dealt it out as well as taking it. You look at the lengths of careers in that era. Even some of the best in that time had rather short careers. It was rough, but most of the players were not dirty. There were, unfortunately, more than a few who were and caused some serious and even career ending injuries

To be able to play 82 games a full season back then was rare and larry did that 3 times in a row which is unthinkable

In Larry’s book DRIVE, he talks about “going to work” despite pain, because that’s what he was paid to do, and that’s what fans deserved. He did his talking on the court, and no one worked harder than he did bc that’s what his work ethic demanded. Today, players sit out with a sore toe! Kareem had terrible migraines and would vomit and go out and play! That’s the way it was done in the 80s. No excuses!

Larry has his off-days just like any superstar. But, for me as a Lakers fan? Not enough off-days. Every time he played the Lakers, he seemed all pumped up.

If you were going into battle, and your season/life depended on it, who would you (in terms of athletes, sports people) want to have have 'watching your six' or 'watching your back', whatever, want to have. What I mean is, who do you know will be there to help and support you. In a team game that is the ultimate respect. To encapsulate, 'He's much better than I am, but he'll always support me and have my back'.

Unrelated side rant. Look at the still at 15:01. When people talk about the video quality being trash back then, it wasn't so much that we couldn't have had amazing quality, it was about technology's price for a home at a 1980's income. We also got screwed by the networks for not wanting to spend money adopting and upgrading to new tech as it became available. They would have had to spend a lot to change the infrastructure of what they broadcasted. They were more interested in milking what they already had. A video quality like that for the home would have been astronomical. But, it could have been done... in a non-greedy world.

Great reaction vid. Covers much of Bird's career and stats, but some things missing- in his1979-80 rookie season, he inherited the worst Celtics team in history, with a 29-53 record. Playing with the same basic starting lineup (ML Carr was added to the team), they go on to a 61-21 record, the BEST in the league, IN HIS ROOKIE year, then eventually losing to Djr J and the 76ers in the Eastern Conference Finals. He not only won Rookie of the Year over Magic Johnson, he was also selected to the All-NBA First Team (he made the team 9 years in a row). His rival Magic did not make the 1st or even the 2nd team that season, as well as the next season. And Michael Jordan did not make the All NBA First Team until his 3rd season as well, same with LeBron. I don't know of any player that had this kind of instant impact from the word Go, even MJ could not do this, and same with LeBron.

A young man who understands hoops and shows the respect due to an absolute legend. Larry Joe Bird would be killing it in todays NBA with no hand checking and soft ass D. Larry went to a Celtics team that had won 29 games and in his rookie year they won 61. Name another player that turned their team around by 32 games? I’ll wait… by contrast the Cavaliers won 17 games in 2002 before Lebron and then won 33 games in James’ rookie year. Pretty good but not Larry. Only Kareem came close with the Bucks improving by 29 games in his rookie season. Watching hoops since 1977 IMO the top 5 players that i actually watched are Jordan-Bird-Magic-Kobe-Lebron. I would have Lebron higher (because he is an immortal) but Lebron is missing one thing that the other 4 have… the killer instinct/assassins mentality. And one last stat for all these load management players today… over his first 9 seasons Larry averaged 79 games played per year!! Much respect to you young buck! Great channel!!!!

MJ couldn't beat Bird in the playoffs. MJ couldn't get a game from Bird in the playoffs. MJ got ZERO against Bird im the playoffs and did back to back. It took MJ until the 1992 to win his first championship. He started I believe in 84 or 85. Bird got I first championship in his second season.
