    Great low tunes out of those small drums. That's how I want to do it, because they're easier to lug around XD

    Aquarian never seems to get the love they deserve. I won’t use any other head for my kick drum other than their Super Kick 2. Latest setup I did for my toms I went with Super 2’s up top and the Dejohnette’s on the bottom strictly for their dryness and the fact that they are black (a pleasant, finished look for myself and the crowd). The kick drum sound goes without saying, absolutely perfect and the tom sound I achieved is perfect as well. Great tone and they get out of the way quickly, in other words they speak confidently and don’t ramble, lol. Absolutely love Aquarian!

    They do sound nice, and the heavy weight makes sense. I have boxes of slightly used "new" drumheads which just did not deliver what I was hoping for. You have a nice double stroke. I like the compact drums too.

    A buddy of mine swears by Aquarian heads. He’s a Sonar guy as well. I have been a Remo Pinstripe guy for many years on my Tama Swingstar kit. I also have a PDP M5 kit with Ambassadors top and bottom. They sound great. Last head change on the Tama I tried Evans EC2 heads. I don’t know if they sound better than Pinstripes but they do sound very good, maybe warmer and have a very focused “studio” tone especially on recordings. I have always been a heavy hitting rock drummer. Always wanted my toms to sing out, that is, until I Matt Camron. Still a huge fan of Herb and Danny Carey and AVH and Bonhan but when I heard Matt Camren’s “thud” tone I wanted to go there. I don’t know what heads he plays but he plays Yamaha shells. Anyway, the only way I could achieve this “thud”sound was to c-47 a bandanna over all my heads to reduce the sustain. Sounds good but muffled.
    These Aquarian Force Ten heads in your video achieve the “thud” vibe I am looking for yet they still have great tone. I assume the dual 10mil configuration is the reason for the reduction in resonance typically heard from Tom Toms.
    Now I kinda want to get a 3rd kit just to try these heads out because my other kits sound great as is.
    Great video in playing and editing and sound quality. However, I feel you are leaving us all hanging a bit by not elaborating on what you have on the bottom of the toms + tension/tuning and I can’t make out the badges on your drums. Interested to know your kit brand and shell type/wood and ply’s.
    I never wanted to try Aquarian until now..

    I've just recently switched to the response 2's with the power dot on my Tama silverstar birch and couldn't be any happier with drumheads lots of fat tone and great stick definition really easy to tune up and they hold the tuning. As well I just ordered some studio X's and classic clear snare side reso's and they will most likely sound killer on a couple of my snares and if they do all my snares will get the Aquarian! Rock on from Canuckville

    Yeah, great video, I tried Aquarian force 1 for my bass drum and focus X for my toms about 2 years ago and I was blown away by their sound and how easy it was to tune them, I then messed around with my drum sound, went back to remo heads, but recently I went back to Aquarian 8) You should try a texture coated head for your snare drum, highly recommended 🤘

    Just to clarify, these are two plies of 10 mil film so total of 20 mil.

  • @MeTuLHeD
    @MeTuLHeD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Correction...
    These are two ply heads and each ply is 10 mil...for a total thickness of 20 mil. Practically indestructible.
    Also, they are sold in tons of stores. Probably not your local Mom & Pop who have only ever heard of Remo and Evans. But in my area alone I can think of three stores which are Aquarian dealers.

    Your drums sound nice. Love the color to. One of the churches I drum at had these heads on the set. I will agree, they are very durable!! However, the tone didn't do it for me. Near, or far. In the drum box or sitting in the back of the church listening to them through the P A system. Have a great day.

    • @drumdocs6194
      @drumdocs6194  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea I can see how that can happen! Thank you for the love on the kit ! I do feel these heads don’t fit every situation but in a loud rock show environment they definitely get the job done!

    Force 10s are TWO plies at 10 mils each. 20 mils overall.
    a Remo Ambassador is 10 mils thick. this is pretty much standard. Evans G1s are also 10 mils thick.
    their 2 ply heads are 2 plies of 7 mils each. so these are thicker. twice as thick as what you're saying!

    I've never had a good experience with Aquarian drum heads over the last 36 years of playing. I find them to have a reduced volume compared to other brands, and they feel rubbery. They also deform more easily. I usually hit the heads in the same spot, these wear down pretty quickly.

    • @jas_bataille
      @jas_bataille ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To each their own... they are endorsed by some of the best drummers in the world and Jack Dejohnette even has signature heads from them. I'd say that Remo, Evans and Aquarian are honestly equal to one another and it's just a matter of preference at this point.
