      The sound was equalized...triggered to some extent? Its useful. Low volume. Acoustic Drums got to be less noise.

    I attended several clinics by Roy Burns when I was in high school at our local music store.
    The consummate big band drummer. What an inspiration. Got to talk with him by phone once as an adult. Thanks Roy for your legacy.

    No mention of the InHead trigger heads. I have a set of those on a vintage Ludwig kit that we used to use in my studio for rehearsals and recording, they were perfect for volume control for our drummer. We placed neoprene pads over the heads to muffle the acoustic sound and used the signal from the triggers to run into a Roland drum brain. Kept the sound in control for metal band rehearsals and kept our neighbors from storming the compound with torches and pitchforks. I sent those drums along with their heads to my son in Texas so he can play in the middle of the night without waking his GF or his dogs. Love the InHeads because we never experienced any sympathetic misfires from the triggers like traditional contact triggers do.

    Whats he failed to convey was that the bass drum heads for toms have a regular tom hoop on the heads, normal bass drum heads have a bigger hoop that won't fit under most triple flange tom hoops if you are doing a conversion.

    • @DoubleD_93
      @DoubleD_93 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@drumfanatik316 Seems to depend on the geographic area. In Canada, they're cheaper because as a local music store employee told me "there's less hands in the pot" since they do their own distribution. Personally I think they sound much better than Evans and almost combine the best of Evans and Remo (Evans durability and longetivity and Remo's sound)

    • @300kike
      @300kike 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drumfanatik316 nope, demos the cheapest. Aquarians the most expensive. Like when I go to buy all new heads for a 5 piece kit, the difference is almost $30

    • @drumfanatik316
      @drumfanatik316 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GortDiminished I do t see how? I guess it depends on where you buy them from? If you get them online you can find deals from Cascio, Sweetwater, and Musicians Friend all the time. Just looked on line, a Super Kick 2 is under $40 where as an Emad or Powerstroke Pro is $45 and up???

    • @300kike
      @300kike 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drumfanatik316 I just looked up drum heads on Sweetwater rn. Aquarian Response 2, 12" head is 14.75. Remo ambassador clear is 14. Not a huge difference. Aquarian superkick 2, 38.71, Remo powerstroke 3 clear, 32.99. When you buy heads for all your drums, it adds up. Although I admit, it's closer than I thought

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      D'yer Maker Ohhh. I thought they were still made in the USA. No go for me. Everything from my sticks to my heads to cymbals need to made in The US or at least North America. We’ve all screwed up the US economy by demanding our cheap everyday goods the least we can all do is support the North American companies still left. I pull off every Evans head that ships with all my Tama drums but I’ll use an Evans head before I let a non North American made head touch my drums. The only exception I make is the reso heads that Tama uses on their Starclassic bass drums since they’re real good.

      @@Assimilator702 why you are playing drums made in China ( or Japan ) ? heads must be american made and drums not !!!???

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      OHRID59MK Because I like Tama drums. And to back up a bit .....the SOUND that we hear from our drums come from the heads. While the drums need to be precisely manufactured and design they are simply a carrier for the head. We don’t “hear” the drum shell......the sound we hear is dependent on the head. The drum shell will either allow every tonal capability of the head to speak or allow select attributes to contribute to the sound. Take the tires off your vehicle and see how far it goes. No American drum companies do it for me besides some of the snares.......most of which have the shells made overseas and are simply assembled in the US and claim they’re Made In The USA. Most American drum companies besides DW cater to the antique side of drum design. I prefer modern drums. And Japan made is as well regarded as made in Germany or USA. So where are you going with your line of thought? There are really no American drum companies left. Gretch, Ludwig and DW. DW owns Gretch now. And drums that are made from Keller shells don’t count. Anyone including myself can build those drums ourselves for 1/3 the cost. I hold Vic Firth sticks, hit Zildjian cymbals and Remo heads. Everything I touch or hit is American made. I play DW pedals and those used to be made in the USA but not anymore and I have no control over that. I purchased a double pedal and 2 singles when they were still made in the USA. My choice in companies I choose to support seems to be very reasonable considering the pathetic state of percussion manufacturing in the USA.
