- Jeyan Jeganathan visits wetland ecologist Janice Gilbert on the frontlines of the battle against invasive Phragmites. Considered one of Ontario's worst invasive species, Phragmites australis, also known as the European common reed, has exploded into an ecological nightmare since arriving on Canada's eastern shores two centuries ago. Up until now, the battle has been fought by municipalities and community groups working in isolation. As part of the ONsite series, this episode highlights new funding for a province-wide strategy, bringing hope that Ontario's wetlands can recover.
